Does this build look right?

This is an IGO-W. I bought it from a B&M and they built me a 1.7 ohm single coil for my MVP2. I do not own a mechanical yet.

The flavor and vape is not as much as my tanks like 30B & 30S. Something is wrong.

I have read from many members they use an rda on a MVP2 and they are very happy, but this just does not seem right.

What do you think? Does this look right? The guy building it did not seem too experienced.

The picture is a bit blurry. If you don't like the build, I would watch some youtube videos and build it yourself! You will be much happier that way

Without knowing what gauge wire he used would be hard to say, pic is blurry and we would need to see it more in focus to see how many wraps you have.. 1.7 should do well on an mvp in the 10 watt range I would think.. Be sure the coil is lined up with the airhole in the top cap.. What voltage or wattage or you vaping at?

I would agree with last poster. Watch some youtube Vids and get some 28g wire and cotton balls and go to town.. Takes you a little bit of practice but it isnt hard to do, just takes practice..

Sorry, I do not know what gauge wire he used. I have tried many voltage and wattage, but I have been using it 5v and 11w.

First problem I see is that the coil is too close to the posts. You want to position your coil closer to the edge of the deck so it's closer to the air source. Since it seems that you are just learning, I think it's prudent to state that you don't want your coil so close to the deck or cap that it contacts them or you will short your mod.

There is not enough detail in that pic to really get a feel for what's going on so that's all I got. Can't tell what the wick is, how many wraps there are, etc.

I wouldn't trust anyone to build a Rebuildable for me unless I understood the basics of rebuilding and once I understood that I'd just build myself.

EDIT: just saw your second pic. That coil looks like an accident waiting to happen. Looks scary close to the posts and deck and generally it looks like a mess. I wouldn't vape it.

Yeah, I would agree with Super x. Coil looks like it is too close to the posts and also sitting too low to the deck. Pry it up a little getting it nearer the air hole on the cap but not touching it, if you can. If that is cotton which it looks to be I would pull that out and re-wick it with some more cotton.. if you have any.. not too much and not too little.. .. Soak the cotton good with your juice before taking your fist hit.

1) that's a nasty looking coil, very uneven. and the gauge looks really thick. i'd go with 28-30 gauge for coils.

2) i'd build the coil a little further out from the posts

3) this is IMPORTANT. make sure the little air hole on the IGO top cap is lined up next to the coil. you'd be surprised how much difference airflow makes with one of these style drippers

I agree the coil was wrapped by an amateur,, Not spaced well at all.. Get some 28 or 30g kanthal. You can probably buy some at the shop where he wrapped your coil. Try wrapping 6 or 7 wraps using 30g on a small drill bit and then check your ohms and adding or subtracting from your wrap to get the ohms where you want them. On a MVP Id shoot myself for 1.5 range..

You can NOT do watts and volts at the same time! If you are @ 5volts on a 1.7ohm coil, you are trying to push 14.7watts.. When you select a voltage, the watts will be determined by the ohms. When selecting watts, the voltage will be determined by the MVP based on ohms. You can NOT do both and it the one you are using will be the last one set. You can not go over 11watts on an MVP.


As for the coil - ya, looks like crap. It looks like very thick in dia and the cotton is not done correctly.. The MVP wont 'push' a thick wire, thick dia coil very good and that will result in the coil not getting to temp very quickly and you'll get a 'cool' vape. The others pointed out the placement.

it might be 28g Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators you might be able to take it out and wrap it again, straighten it out first against plastic handle on scissors but not to much you will weaken the wire, then do as superX recommends with 1.55 or 2mm drill bit to wrap the wire, make sure you aren't touching the deck under the coil, the cap or the posts where you tighten the wire.


then when your done go back to the shop and tell the guy how happy you were
