Okay so here is the situation (sorry for the long post I ramble I kno but this one requires all the details anyway I think)

So I've been noticing the last few days that my atomizers seem to be tasting "burnt" sort of and it seemed like it was going out quickly (2-5 days) I use Cleito coils 0.4ohms.

At first, I attributed this to liquid being of the thicker/sweeter kind than normal since I've been doing trials. But it still seemed very rapid.

Last night I changed the coil and then when I went to take a puff after it had primed that "taste" was already there.. So .. I'm thinking it's deffo not burnt coils it's something else.

This taste I cannot truly say it is a burnt taste, but it's sort of a "bitter" taste like on the edges of my tongue. It doesn't go away either it kind of hangs around in my mouth and seems to linger and not really taper off. I can still "taste" the juice, like I know the flavour is in there but it's mixed with this awful burnt/bitter/acrid taste.

All these attempts were conducted with the same flavor of juice, these being Boost by Boosted Juice and Naked Unicorn by Naked 100. Both of which are Strawberry creamy tastes. (My new favorite thing lately.)

Now these are brand new juices, I just purchased these bottles. Each flavor is actually from a different vendor. So I doubt I got a double bad batch of juice from two places. Besides.. I have been vaping both of these flavors from these original bottles I bought (first time buying either flavor) for a few days. I was vaping them when they tasted good. So there is no way they went bad or anything.

I thought perhaps bad coils?

So I opened a new fresh box of coils (this one actually purchased from a different place too) and... same weird taste!!!! I have gone through a total of FIVE coils from two different boxes and they have been rotated through clean tanks (I have four Cleito tanks) to rule out something iffy in the tanks themselves.

I tried two different mods too, in case maybe one of them was not sending the right watts to the tank or something.

I have menthol in my forth tank. It tastes fine.

This hasn't happened to me before recently... aside from this ONE other time in the last few weeks where I few puffs from a small sample bottle of TFA cinnamon danish + bavarian cream + TFA french vanilla + TFA sweetener juice I had mixed on Frontier Vapor.

My mouth was slammed with this same "bitter" taste and it STAYED FOREVER. I was like washing my mouth and brushing my tongue and I assumed it was just like something wrong with the sample it was HORRIBLE. I literally sucked jolly ranchers for hours trying to get this taste out of my mouth.

My mouth TASTES like THIS now. And I cannot for the life of me figure out what is happening.. Is this how vapor's tongue behaves normally? Am I like mildly allergic to something?

;_; I want my joose help

There may be other junk in your atty. they can pick up pocket lint if you leave one in your pocket for example. Another thing that might cause it is say getting a hair in the tank. Maybe take it apart and give it a rinse and wipe?

Vape tongue in my personal experience is mostly about your tongue being burned by a spitting atty.

I actually full cleaned all three tester tanks before switching the coils though because I was trying to rule out as much as humanly possible. Like hot water rise wipedown and dried each. I wash them pretty regularly because mouth crusties are groosss..

The menthol and (possibly the mint?) still taste okay. If spitting is the problem I might never have noticed it because I've only vaped menthol/mint for like 5 years and I'm guessing those flavours are more about the "cold" feeling than the "taste" ...

Spitting "might" be a possibility. Every so often my atty's do spit a little but IDK I'm hardcore about it I just think of them as "sparkles" it never bothered me <_<

You said that they were brand new juices. Have they had time to steep and breathe? I got a strawberry lemonade in from The Sauce LA a while back and it was horrible. Tasted like lemon and strawberry perfume mixed with pesticide. A week later and that straw/lem was heavenly. If you smelled the bottle it's like smelling a strawberry on the vine in your garden. And the flavor is great.

Brand new like I just bought them but they arrived pre-steeped or so I was informed. Plus, I was vaping them a few days ago and they tasted awesome! So something has changed somehow... and it seems isolated to my mouth ;_;

- Tanks are clean.
- Coils are not bad / changed / new boxes / different suppliers
- I am used to this setup I've been vaping this gear for months so I'm not mis-calibrating anything
- Juice from different locations / both pre-steeped
- Menthol tastes fine

My atty's DO spit semi regularly - I only ever vaped mint before never had to "taste" things persay.. I am wondering now if I have been constantly burning my tongue and not knowing it and only realizing it now..

You mentioned that menthol tastes fine. I have known juices that combine menthol and citrus to be good for eliminating vape tongue, maybe that's it. Do you have any citrus juice to mix with the menthol? Really anything that makes your mouth water will work. You could drink orange juice while vaping menthol.

Vape tongue can be caused by a variety of different things, for different people. I've heard of all of these before:

1. Vaping the same juice for too long
(that's 1 reason why many rotate using different eliquids frequently during the day)

2. Certain medications people take, that affect their sense of taste

3. Certain foods and/or spices people eat (I know garlic definitely causes it for several people I know, and for me)

4. A coating that sometimes appears on your tongue because of an illness

5. Eating too much of something that is an irritant to your tongue and taste buds (sometimes it's: salty snacks, citrus fruits, hard candies, etc.)

A few things that some have said will help with it:

1. More frequent brushing - the teeth AND the tongue
2. Cinnamon candy or Tic Tac - a piece a few times a day
3. Drinking lemonade or water w/lemon several times a day

If/when you have it, you might as well go ahead and vape either unflavored eliquid or some of your least favorite eliquids...because you can't taste it anyway!

IDK but I am sad. I will confine myself to menthol and drink lots of tangy juice and see if it changes. That RDA I bought should hopefully be here soon and I can hopefully figure out how to get it working. I'll try a few flavors and see if they taste funny too..

About burning ones tongue.. Since I am quite sure now that I probably have been and basically ignoring it.. what makes an atty "spit" and/or what are the ways one prevents that? I'll try to rule out everything here. If it's bad coils then I hit the crappy luck super jackpot getting a bad batch from two separate places -_-

Well, I'm glad you feel the world needs to know about these coils :) It could be a lot of things, maybe you need to lay off the cleto for a bit until your taste returns to normal, and/or vape unflavored juice.

It may be your mod if you got juice down into the atty pin, that may be affecting things. Did you check? I'm assuming you did.

I find it hard to believe that you got two bad sets of coils from two different vendors, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. You may want to get some coils from a B&M to be sure they're genuine, or it may be that the cleto isn't to your taste anymore, though I find that doubtful.

how did you figure out it was the coils, you didn't say? In any case, I hope you get it figured out.

Are you properly priming the heads?
Dripping drops on all exposed wicking material until fully saturated. Then filling tank, threading base & tank together, allowing it to sit upright for a few minutes, then taking a few unpowered primer puffs, before pressing the fire button for the first time.

Are you starting new/unused heads off at a lower power setting then gradually working your way up over the first at least half to full tank?
Zapping a new head with the same power you were using with an old one is a quick way to singe the wicking material closest to the coil.
Singed wicking has reduced wicking & liquid holding ability which can give all sorts of odd, off, weird or funky tastes.
Always start a new head off at a lower power setting & gradually work your way up.

You haven't said anything about what power level you're using.
Chances are if you haven't scorched or burned the wicking material turning the power down may help.
Different flavors / flavorings taste best at different power levels, every time you try a new flavor or change a head you should start off at a low power setting & work your way up to find your 'sweet spot'.
