I'm guessing we will be seeing some mods based off the ego tank style soon. I'm holding out to see what becomes available before spending anymore money..
I am working on a VV thats going to be eGo atty , carto , cone compatible. Already made a passthrough that is. Should have been done with it really but i ran into a thermal issue with the onboard charger chip i had planned on using. Switching it out to a sister chip that has half the thermal wattage rating and still the high amps for a faster charge. Maybe next weekend i will finally have it ready for prime time.
So Java, did you scavenge an eGo connector? Or did you buy it somewhere?
If you scavenged it, what's the best way to get one apart? I've seen people talk about cutting them out, but I'm not sure about that.
Your thoughts?
Since the eGo uses a Joye 510 connector, seems like any standard 510 connectors should work? Or does the Tank use a proprietary atty connector? I was under the impression the battery end and connectors were the same for all eGos, original and Tank alike.

Neither really. I made it from a piece of 1/2inch steel bar stock on my lathe. Although it does have a regular 510 connector pressed into it . I was going to make the whole thing from scratch but the commercial made ones are plated steel. The plating helps conductivity. Steel by itself is not that great of a conductor. Stainless steel is even worse.
What i do to get them out is take a dremel with a cutting wheel and cut down the tube. The tube is really thin so you dont have to cut very deep. You also dont have cut down the tube very far the top piece is pressed in the tube 1/4 of a inch maybe just a bit farther but not much. Then the top will pull right out.

It is the same threads on the connector. A 510 is what it is. The problem is that with tanks the outer sleeve comes down past the where the connector screws in. So just about all mods i know of the tank wont screw in because they get blocked. Here is a few pics that can explain it better then me
Seems to me all you need to have for a vv mod that works with a tank is either a protruding connector (ie: on a box, use an N power plug and a 901/510 adapter) or an extension.
