Hey i just got the sigelei 870 vape pen. it's a dripper and i was wondering ( since i am a little new to it.. quitting smoking and all. ) does the damn cotton need to be exposed and open or does the metal need to be covering it. the dripper tank is clear and on the inside you can see that there is 4 different holes that can be moved by turning to glass. if you turn it a little bit you can see the holes line up with the cotton on the inside of the dripper tank if you turn it more you can close off the holes of the cotton. i don't know if i am supposed to keep the holes closed. open. or if it even matters.

The sigelei sounds like a box, not the dripper - a photo would REALLY help.
But if you DO have a dripper, it sounds like what your turning is the airflow control.
You want to adjust that so that the vape is satisfactory - and that will depend on your preference, your watts, your coil.
You want those air openings usually to "aim" so that air DOES get to the coil - not at the ends of cotton, but it's fine to have air hit some cotton of course as it hits the coil. You can usually also lift or lower the coils inside, to effect how the air flows over it.

I would try it with the holes fully open and if it's too airy close it a bit. Vape on
