Oh yeah. Modern Vapor sells the Sidesho and the Lux! I just had a big "duh" moment so don't pay any attention to me. This is only the second thread I've looked at today and I haven't had enough coffee (or vape) yet.

Luvs, you and I think alike in a lot of ways. My first real PV was a Riva. Very plain, very ordinary as PV's go, but works just as well as a fancy eGo (and I own 2 of those now...lol.) I've been watching more of Mistress Nomad's videos and I think it's time to dress up my Riva batts with little jewels and decorations. I'll have an artsy looking Riva by tomorrow for sure!

Somewhere in time.
Yes, I thought of just trying the code, but you would not believe how specifically I'm tailoring my first order on the Visa gift card in order to 1) max out the card, 2) get the free shipping, 3) get the most product. I do have another code for first timers for 15 percent, but will have to re-tailor the first order for that. See, and you thought it was an easy problem. ;)

If nobody knows for certain, I guess I might work up a just in case order for the 15% discount. Still it would be good to know if the place I'm hoping to buy from again and again offers members here 20% off.
So far I have gotten a coupon code with every order-but the ecf20 was apparently only on starter kits. Not sure if it still works.....

I decided on Modern Vapor for my first kit also. I ordered the sidesho kit along with a 902 atty and an extra battery. I love them. 3 days later I threw out what was left of my cigarettes, they just tasted really bad. The prefilled carts that come with the kit are great. I kept hearing that most aren't that good, but Modern Vapors are. Their juice is very good too. I really loved the RY4 and menthol (I mix the 2 together and it's great). I don't know which kit you were looking at, but a week after I got my 1st kit I ordered the LUX kit also. The battery lasts all day. Another really good product. The prices really aren't bad when you consider that with the sidesho kit you get 2 complete e-cigs and you also get the PCC (personal charging case) that charges one battery, holds an additional atomizer and 5 spare carts while you are out. It can charge 3 or 4 batteries before it needs to be charged again. Another really great thing about Modern Vapor is the customer service. Tony is great. If you have any questions he is always very quick to answer you. Your order will get out very quickly. I ordered mine on a Friday and received it Monday. The only problem I have had so far is the kit came with 1 auto & 1 manual battery and about a week after I got it the manual battery wouldn't charge. I sent Tony an e-mail, which he answered right away, and he sent out a new 1 that day. He also included a Prepaid label for me to return the bad one at no charge to me. No problems since. Just placed another order last night. By the way regarding compatibility to other products, they are compatible with the 510. I have ordered 2 other 510's from 2 other suppliers and I will stay with Modern Vapor from now on. Their products are better. I have also tried the menthol and RY4 from a few other suppliers also and they just aren't as good. I still get some of their prefilled carts also whenever I order more e-juice, they last a long time when I'm out and don't want to have to worry about refilling. The carts on the sidesho also hold more liquid than other 510 carts. Hope you enjoy your kit as much I do mine.

And re juices - I think you'll find a differences in TH between flavors even if the juices are from the same maker and have the same PG/VG mix.

You'll have to figure out what adds to your satisfaction. For me it's a mix of TH plus good vapor with nice body and a flavor/aroma I that's comforting. And try different vendors, not just a bunch of flavors from one. I started on the PG Marlboro-type I could order where I bought my starter kit and it worked satisfactorily to get me to vape instead of smoke but it was not fully satisfying for me. Backwoods Brew Casablanca comes the closest to satisfying me.

If you are scrimping, the Chinese (Dekang) PG liquids may be the cheapest option to start with (like what I started with while I read about other juices). This place has one of the best deals on 10ml bottles of PG http://www.litecigusa.net/ - no discount code but $4.25 for 10ml and they only charge $2 shipping.

OK
You should NOT use an Ego charger for standard 510 batts. It will blow them up along with a potential fire hazard. You can use a standard 510 charger, but it will take longer for the Ego batts to charge.

Yeah, agreed. But she has a Riva 510... that means EGO, basically. I don't think there is a standard battery 510 Riva - that I know of...

Obviously would be better if a standard name for "ego type" batteries...

Hello to the rest of the kiddies in the wadding pool here! I'm hoping someone with experience (since I can't post elsewhere being new and all) might answer a few questions about Modern Vapor for me.

First, I don't want anyone to try and talk me out of buying from there...waste of time. It meets my current needs and desires for trying this whole vaping thing out. I've been smoking since I was fourteen and would love it if this can either reduce my dependency on cigs or eliminate it altogether. MV seems to have quite an excellent reputation and the whole kit and kaboodle, one-stop-shopping for what I want.

Anyway, the first question is regarding something I read on this site on some other thread. I read that ECF members get a 20% discount with coupon code 20ecf. That code was posted about six months ago so I wanted to know 1) Is this true? and 2) Is that discount still valid? I could not find any further information about it on this site or on MV's site.

Such a discount is really important to me as I'm currently unemployed and have a VISA gift card with a limited amount on it that I had planned on using for the bulk of my purchase, but I will also be making an immediate second purchase out of my own funds. I'm fashioning together enough starter stuff not just for me, but I want to give my son and his girlfriend some basics to start with, too, as Xmas gifts. The first order on the gift card will be large enough to get the free shipping. Yeah, I know how to squeeze a nickel till it cries.

My second question is regarding the various juices. They have the regular PG juice as well as a PG/VG juice combo. Outside of the obvious difference in ingredients, what are the pros and cons of combining VG juice with PG? Is it a health thing, a flavor thing, a throat hit thing or what? And does the combo juice affect the various hardware components better or worse or the same?

Thanks so much in advance to anyone who can help me out!

If you haven't ordered yet, you should do yourself (and your credit card) a big favor and read a lot of the other threads here in the New Members section. Doing that will save you a ton of money, so you'll buy the right parts the first time, instead of possibly returning parts when you order the better parts in the near future. I know you didn't want this advice, but it's the best advice we all could give you. Why bother responding if honesty isn't part of the response?

There's a thread here somewhere about someone who received terrible customer service from MV when trying to return a kit or whatever it was, and the truth is that there are much better suppliers out there, with better quality products and much cheaper prices. There's a reason why you don't see Modern Vapor talked about much here.

i know the feeling lol. i suppose the best bet would be to add everything to your cart, enter the code and get a total. it should give you the total before you go through the checkout process.

edit-the 20% off code doesn't work, i just did a dry run.

Thanks for trying, but I did read further on in the thread that it just applies to starter kits, so maybe I'll do a dry run myself.

I would just email them & ask.... or hey they have a 1-877-312-ECIG (3244) toll free number.... can't hurt to try

And the gift card ordering...... been there
 I just did one the other day & got within 1cent of the balance of the card
It was great !! Made ordering that much more fun to have gotten so close !! Good luck with it all !
And IMHO VG rocks !!!!

was just looking @ that site ...wonder what their models are ?
they are very Blu etc, proprietary lookin' not really bad prices tho ????
you SURE you don't want more popular , buy parts anywhere type stuff ???

sorry ...jus sayin' ............ compatibility really is key with these things & future purchases

Within one cent, eh? Stupendous! LOL I originally looked at Blu (saw an ad and said to myself "wow, what's this?") and thought they looked great until I found this forum and all the various links to other sites and I did A LOT of checking out of those various sites and tons of reading here.

MV has a very good reputation on this site among a lot of the experienced posters and I like what they offer for starter packages, i.e. those charging packages they call PCC's which essentially look like cigarette packs, but make sure you'll never be without a way to charge, and their variety of e-cig types that are pretty standard but just named differently.

I want the Sidesho which, from what I've read, is essentially a 501. I don't want something super long or dramatically different looking from a regular cigarette. I want my experience to be as close to a regular cigarette as possible. I am making no demands on myself to quit or anything. However, if this proves to be an easy substitute, I don't see why I couldn't dramatically cut down on my regular cigs or eventually quit altogether without having stressed myself out. Of course, if all works out then I may change my mind on types of e-cigs later on. If this proves to my liking, I'll also check out other juice places because I have seen all manner of pricing. This is just to get started.

I started with MV in june, good service and kits. Both of their smaller kits are 510 batteries threaded, so no problems working on 510 equipment. I would get the manual buttons, both of the auto batteries I got are now dead, but the manuals are still going strong. Also would get a passthru and be sure to get some juice.

Almost everywhere I've read on this site, the manual batts are the way to go. This went entirely against my original plan of autos, but I must bow to the masters to some extent. I'm starting with one of each. ;)

Just understand what the models are that Modern Vapor sells--basically prettied-up versions of the same models and kits you can get elsewhere for much less. I know you said your mind was absolutely set but then in your same post, you say you're unemployed and are looking to save some money, so I think people's suggestions for other sites are because of that situation, which a lot of us are in. I checked out MV a while ago and they are very elegant looking (I like the little holder dudes) but I'm on a tight budget myself. :) I'm not sincerely trying to talk you out of anything, just a money-saving suggestion and I have to waste some time right now anyway. LOL Just a take it or leave it thing, that's all.

It's sort of on the same line as how I can buy Fruit Loops and pay 3x more for Kellogs than what i pay for the store brand but the box is prettier and sometimes comes with a cute toy. But they taste the same. lol

Their prices didn't seem that far off from other sites as far as what you get in a starter kit, plus the kicker for me is the PCC and that everything works together. I really don't want to do any more research (believe me, I checked out LOTS of sites), nor do I want to worry about whether certain parts work with others. If and when I become a regular user, well then, I'll stretch my wings. :D

I will not do Chinese liquids. Another reason I like MV...USA made. After what the Chinese have done to their own baby formulas and other toxins found in stuff shipped to the US because some manager of a factory was trying to save money...fuggedaboutit.

Yes, I think you're correct about the invention. And I think, originally, you could only get e-juice from China. Kudos for the invention and all, but there have been too many recent incidents regarding toxins in stuff manufactured there that one ingests one way or the other. And since e-juice is unregulated and not on the top of any priority lists for examination by the FDA or whichever department is in charge of regulating imports, it could be more susceptible to abuse.

On the other hand, I worked for and am hoping to resume my job again at a small biotech company whose main goal is to bring certain Chinese herbal medicines through full clinical trials and FDA approval. :D

I thought the same thing (that a battery looking like a cigarette and a PCC was the way to go) and wasted $200 on crap that I quit using 10 days later.

Yes, you can use 902 parts on the Sidesho-but the sidesho atty won't fit on anything else. I have both-and love them both for different reasons. The main ones being-The Sidesho atty is exposed. REAL ridiculously easy to drip on, clean, etc. The 902 carts hold a LOT more liquid. I use the sidesho at home, because I drip-but I take my 902 with me out if I'm going to be gone for awhile so I can take fewer carts. It's subjective-until a friend gave me the 902 I never really minded the sidesho carts unless on a long trip-then I took a 306 cartomizer along. Yes-306 and 510 cartos WILL fit on a sidesho-the 510 ones look silly, but they work:). Oh-and I gave away my kr8 recently, and all I use for hardware now is MV. Tony rocks.

Nightseer, thanks for the answer. So essentially, if you get a 902 atty, you can use the Sidesho battery and a 902 cartridge, but you can't use a 902 cartridge with a Sidesho atty...correct? This would be good to know for future reference because it would seem that having to change cartridges less often would be handy at times although a longer overall e-cig may not be as easy to pack on the go, at least for me. It's just good to know alternatives to utilizing some same components.

Yes, the 902 parts do work with the Sidesho. Well, at least the atty's do. The 902 and sidesho carts are different. The threading where they attach to the battery are the same but the bridge is exposed on the Side Sho and takes different carts.
The reason I wanted the 902 atty was because I wanted the flat tips and you can only get them with the 902's. I really like the flat tips better than the round ones. I like the menthol in the prefilled carts. The first order I got Modern Vapor's Menthol (18mg. nic) which is all PG. I really liked that one, but the order I just placed I decided to try the Modern Vapor USA Menthol PG/VG blend. Since I ordered that Friday I should receive it Monday so I'll let you know how it is after I get a chance to try it. I have read that a lot of people really like the Halo e-juice, but have never tried it. You should also try the RY4, add a few drops to your carts when filling with the menthol. I was really surprised how much I liked it. I thought I would just stick with menthol, but I kept reading so many reviews about the RY4 that I wanted to see what everyone was talking about. Don't forget to order the blue foam to refill your carts. The filler that is in the carts will need to be replaced after a few refills. Tony provides instructions on how to cut it to the right size and gives you tips on refilling, which is very helpful. Hope this helps.

Nightseer-Thanks for the tip about the 306 cartomizer's, I didn't know that they would work with the Side Sho. I'll have to try them. I did read somewhere on the MV forum that Tony is getting the cartomizers for the Side Sho, (he already has them for the 902, just ordered them Friday ) but it doesn't say when. I agree with you about Tony, he is great. By the way the LUX is really nice and the battery lasts at least 8 hours. I have the black and the blue one (Tony let me get one of each instead of both being the same color when I ordered the kit) and they are really sharp looking.
