So I have a Bulli Smoker A2 with drip tip adapter, Dream Fatty Clone, rda Octopus, and DID tank clone. I can wrap a coil and wick in no time and be perfect, 1.5-2.2 ohm with no problem (ex. hot spots). But every one of them I build the throat hits kills me, no flavor, but the vapor is tremendous. I vape mostly cartos and kanger t3. I vape 12mg nic and 65pv 35vg. My thing is I want a dripping atty that I can use to drip when I want to just vape dripping, but this throat hit thing has got to go. I am about to throw all my high end stuff in the trash and just stick with cartos.

Now before we get to involved, I have a zmax mini and evic. So wattage is not an issue. I have set my device at 8 watts which is great for all my cartos that are at 2.1 ohm. I build a coil at 2.1 ohm in my fatty and it about kills me with throat hit it is the same with the other rebuildables that I have as well. Without changing my juice or wattage, How can I sit these thing up and get a good vape like my cartos? Or is there a dripping atty that is rebuildable that is mild on throat hit. I am willing to try one more before going to extreme and throwing them all away.

Sounds like a hidden hot spot or an air hole issue as Haber mentioned. Even if you have a nice glowing coil one of the legs may get hot if they aren't the same length. I was frustrated as well until I figured that out.

I like a mild throat hit myself and my coils are all around 1 ohm and work perfectly on my mechanical, Provari, whatever I throw it on. 2.1 ohms should be no problem...if you're sure you don't have a hotspot I'm not sure what it could be.

mine was doing that till i started burning the wire off before i put juice to it. then puff the first couple hits and blow em out before trying to inhale, once i did that problem was solved.dont know if that will help, but thats what i do after each recoil now and it seems to work for me. someone told me(on here) that new wire has oil, etc, that has to be burned off.

I had the same problem, oxide the hell out of your wick, what i did was torch it 5 times and quenched it 5 times in water before i rolled it too a wick,Then juice burned it 5 times.Made big difference, this helped a lot, also burn the wire with a bic lighter, hang in there,it took me weeks too get it right when i first tried a RBA.I also use the drill bit method too set up the wick and wire,i actually use hard plastic Qtip instead of a drill bit,its the same size wick hole in the AGAT2.

Is your air hole directly over the coil?

Yep. If not the air hole will be as close as I can get it. On the bulli that is no problem I drilled the hole myself right in line with the coil. The RDA Octopus the air hole is in the bottom of the base. And the "Dream" fatty clone has the 3 air holes with the adjustable air flow cap.

The IGO-L is BY FAR the easiest dripper to rebuild and has great flavor and vapor production. I have mine running a single coil at .8 ohms and it hits great. No issues whatsoever. By far the easiest dripper to rebuild. Takes about 2 minutes.

My Nic level is 12mg. Started out with 6 and it did the same thing. I am not sure what is going on yet.

If your using a rebuildable dripper, use lower nic levels. Like 6mg otherwise it's overwhelming because of the ultra low resistance of the coils. I was a heavy smoker for years and I still can't drip more than 12mg otherwise Ill 'fall over' lol

Thank you everyone for your help. Here is my procedure I go through.
1. 32ga Kanthal then I will put wire through lighter to burn off impurities
2. Doubled over 2mm Silica wick.
3. Wrap my coil about 3 to 4 wraps to give me a 2.1 to 2.2 ohm coil.
3. Mount coil to in this case RDA Octopus
4. Pulse the coils and check for hot spots.
5. Adjust any coil to get rid of hot spots.
6. Cover with e liquid and take a toot.
And here in lies the problem. On that pull and the inhale, It's not so much a burning dry hit taste but more of a I just inhaled a harsh sugar hit. Very sweet tasting but very harsh at the same time with not much vapor. The coils are getting hot.

I am starting to think that maybe it is a hot spot. Just not really sure. My coil seems to glow at the same time and with the same evenness. But man I will cough my lungs out on a hit from a rebuildable that I have made.

I don't know if this is why your is doing that. But i could never get just silica setup right. It seems ... if the got spots are hidden with the silica. So what i do now is wrap a few layers of ss mesh around the silica. Got rid of the bad flavor and nasty throat burn i was ferrying by wrapping my coil directly on the silica.. Like this
