Don't know what's wrong but I don't like it...

I am now beginning my third full day with my 510 and I know something is wrong. One atty is for sure dead, but the other is producing some good vapor, but the taste is weird. I don't know if it's burnt or platicy, I just know it's not right. If I take a decent 5-7 second drag, it almost burns theback or my thoart, but not in a good way, in like a "I'm burning something besides vapor" way. I have found filler fibers on the atty once or twice in the past three days, tried to clean and drain it, and have had no difference in taste since the primer fluid. Since my other atty is dead, I have no other option. What should I do?

buy EVERCLEAR at your local liquor store and soak your atomizer in that.Never had any foul tastes with cleaning attys with that:) Plus no rinsing required, evaporates instantly

Sounds great. How long do you soak it? Is it ok to smoke the residue of everclear? Thanks

I'm new to the 510 and haven't had your problems, but I did notice something.

A few cart filler fibers were sticking out towards the atty, is this a sign of not topping off? It seems like I have to top off alot. When I didn't top off quite quick enough that's when I notice the fiber moving (or coming out). Not topping off fast enough right?

I will stir stick modify (guy with problems you should look this up- on this site) as soon as possible. Thanks

Drip? Do I drip down the atty hole? or On the otherside, do I drip right on to the glow plug looking thing inside the atty?

Thanks Robert

I will definitely try the teabag filler. Do the teabags contain any of the tea taste or are you using new ones?

I've been keeping up with topping off regularly, I've used the straw cart mod, no difference in taste. Spoke to a few people who say that certain attys maintain that metallic taste no matter what you clean it with. After cleaning it with compssed air I still taste it. I'm gettig some backups to compare but I think I'll be stuck with this taste forever. O well. Hope the 801 and 601 are better.

Make sure it is dead, examine the threaded end and be sure that the center post is not depressed below the threaded end. If it is, use a saftey pin in the side holes to pry it back up into place. This is a common problem with many attys.

Does it still happen whebn you just drip with no cart? Just a mouthpiece?

I found that the coffee filter/teabag tasted VERY harsh like that as SOON as it got dry and there was really no warning when it got low on liquid.. jjust BAM burning/throat hurting taste!

The metallic flavor is significantly reduced when dripping without a cart, however there is no flavor execpt the slight metal taste. I'm not a fan of dripping tho...too much work. And when I use a cart the metal taste come right back, no matter how much liquid is in the cart. I'm gonna get some backups to compare, but I'm less than satisfied with my 510 at this point. Well see how the 801, 601, and new attys compare.

Ya I'm keeping up with Ll that a lot better now. But how do youget rid of the taste? It doesn't matter how moist the cart is or even if I drip, it still tastes awful and probably is quite unhealthy.

I have had a few 510 attys that had that taste. I just kept carts topped and also dripped the atomizer with a few drops here and there. It
should stop. I have one that took a little more effort, but the bad taste went away. Good luck.

I agree, I don't have a 510, but when I was first starting out every time I pulled my cart off the filler was stuck to the atty, resulting in the nasty taste you speak of. Once I started topping off more and always keeping it moist it got better.

Lacey, Have we been Vaping for the same amount of time???!?!? I find that funny and interesting!

Yep Keep it wet, and the taste should dissipate, maybe drip 1-2 drops on the atomizer bridge, no more though...
