I like the look and idea of the reo, but I bought my first dripper a tugboat and don't like it. I love my kayfun, is there a topper that would give me the same draw and flavor ?
Love my two tugboat's I use for my other mods. Pretty much anything you use on the Reo will be comparable with a dripper.

I would suggest trying a small dripper (RM2, Cyclone, Divo for single coil, Reactor or RM3 for dual coils) as they will give you the best flavor. I haven't found any 22mm drippers that produce the flavor of the smaller ones. Another option would be the Dripper Spiral from ByLeo- small chamber as well as the airflow coming for below. Great flavor and tighter draw.

Lots of drippers out there with afc, or stock holes much smaller than a tugboat, that will give you a nice tight draw and quite a few that will give you much better flavor than a kayfun IMO.

I don't think any dripper can replicate the kayfun draw. The kayfun almost has a suction to it. But adjusting the afc almost closed or a single air hole will come close. And you should notice a huge improvement in flavor and nic hit. I can take 8mg in my kayfun yet only 2-3mg on my dripper due to the. 3 ohm build. That .5 ohm should be putting it out for ya.

I can't imagine vaping getting any better than what I have with the reo grand and mini right now.. Fell in love with the reo because to me it is the ultimate dripper. Everyone has to find what makes them the happiest. That is what makes vaping so special. There are so many choices that you are bound to find smoke-free "bliss". Good luck to you. :)

MrBones, if you let us know the coil build on your Kayfun, gauge and ohms, I'm sure someone here can come up with a good suggestion of an atty and coil build for you to try. I'm sure there will be a combination that will make you very happy. I never used a Kayfun but quite a few here have experience with it.

Don't feel bad... I do not particularly enjoy drippers on the Grand either. I think the 22mm models look somewhat top-heavy, and the mod's door will not slide up. I have an Origen v2, and Oreico Storm A. Both have the Origen v2 BF'er pins. I usually need to almost entirely close-off airflow to get the nice mouth-to-lung hits I like on either.

There were no rebuildables when the REO hit the scene.. The mod was designed for atomizers, and does a damn good job of running them :). I always dreamt of a rebuildable 510 size atty to run on the REO.. The dream was realized with the Sophia by Leo RBA. It's actually designed for a carto tank, but with the short-body, is about as small as the standard 510 atty. ;)

The Sophia is small, lightweight, has a ceramic cup that enhances flavor IMO, and has a built-in "beck" in the tube which makes for an extremely small chamber. It also works well as a "spit-guard" against hot juice, and is in it's self a flavor enhancer also. She also has two small air-holes above the 510 threading, which are adjustable. Can you tell that I like it? :p

I run mine with a drip shield since Sophia does screw-apart at the base. Also, because it looks great. ;) Sophia squonks well, and gives me a full, rich, hit.:vapor: The throat-hit is great, and the flavor is off the chart. :thumb: I do not want to use any other atty on my converted VV Grand...

I have 2 Tugboats. Both on tube mods. They do have an airy draw, for a non AFC atty. But I like it, because I do lung hits. I have been eyeballing one of mine to convert to bottom feed. It would be a nice atty on a Reo. I've actually been looking at several of my drippers as potential candidates for bf surgery; most notably my Enigma, Brass Monkey, and Quasar.

I'm not big on drippers, and I like a slightly tight draw, and I'm a happy camper with my Cyclone.
I just (today) got the AFC top for it - and I might have to use it nearly closed - open halfway and I don't have the lungs to hit it.
But the small single airhole in a stock Cyclone is a really nice draw...might be worth a shot.

What others have said:

Most assuredly the RM2, Cyclone, IGO-S, and other smaller RDA's will get you there. Leave the air hole at or below 1/16 so you can build higher resistance coils and mouth to lung it. My prediction is you'll find the flavor on any of these BF RDAs very much superior to the Kayfun, and squonking to perform a hell of a lot more consistent and trouble free.

The tugboat you are using is more so designed for direct lung hits IMO.

Cheers

I'm not familiar with tugboats but if it has adjustable air holes close them off and you'll be able to take mouth to lung hits. If tugboats don't have an adjustable air hole maybe try some electrical tape to cover it ha. I do it with my adjustable rdas sometimes and is comparable with my kayfun draw. It'll still have enough air flow to hit but vapor production is greatly reduced.
Personally I like rdas now because I like to build crazy coils every now and then but it's not everyone's cup of tea I suppose, maybe try a different style before you give up on them because tinkering with coils is a fun little hobby. I hope this helps you a bit, I experienced the same thing transitioning from rtas to rdas and this helped me a bit

^^Electrical tape's adhesive is suuuper toxic. I'm a carpenter and it certainly can come in handy but I try not to even get it on my hands!

I always thought I preferred a tighter draw on my attys and NEVER thought I'd like straight lung hits but I'm love, love, lovin' my Tugboat. Now I see my By Leo "The Dripper" as way too tight and my one nice AFC dripper, a Strata, can't get airy enough! My tank systems, two Sophias and an Aqua still definitely have their place as certainly convenient. I'm really liking 26ga kanthal for its durability. Personally, when I have a coil/build I like I don't find the need to tinker any more and I can roughhouse wicks in and out without .....ing up the coils. However, a lot of space is needed for thicker wire since multiple wrapped, large diameter coils are required to get the ohms down to a battery saving/reasonable juice consuming level (.6 ohms w/ dual coils). My Strata and Aqua are ok for that and my Tugboat is outstanding for it. I would say to try out something [authentic] with AFC but I think it's a better idea to play with yer Tugboat and try to embrace its airflow!

Years ago it had carcinogenic properties but as of late they're are no known toxic or carcinogenic chemicals in it. Just don't burn it which. But was just a suggestion for him to start to get used to strait lung hits which is daunting at first. But if using this temporary patch wigs you out use your finger to cover the hole until you get used to the more open draw
