Hi everyone- basically im a novice looking for a bit of advice- i have been off tobacco for over 3 weeks and have been using an 1300mah ego with smok redux coils and an itaste mvp with iclear30 coils. i used to smoke about 30 cigs a day previously and found 24mg not strong enough so i changed to camel 36mg which i find ok but fairly strong. i have a few questions that people might be able to answer...
1- how often do i need to change iclear30 heads(not sure how much liquid i use)
2-how often to replace smok redux heads?
3-which clearomiser is best for an ego-i was thinking of trying evod.
4-on my itaste mvp, what is the correct set up to get a good hard draw and get a t least 2 days out of it before charging.
5- what is the correct way to drag on e cigs- is it a long 4 second drag, then hold it in mouth and exhale?
6- i have been using 36 mg- is that too strong, and can i mix it with 24mg?
8- this is prob a difficult question to answer, but could someone give an idea of what they would use in a month smoking(if they had to go live on an island-with electricty- )e.g how many coils etc.
i probably have left something out, but i really dotn want to go back smoking tobacco, and i know that if i have to many days where i cant get a hit of my e cigs ill think about going back to the real thing. Thanks:)

1 and 2: about once a week or maybe after about 3 days
3: I recommend miniprotank2v2
4: air draw is more to do with the tank on top;
5: mostly mouth inhales like a cigar
6: I recommend using 2 tanks; 1 main tank with a lower strength and 1 tank with a higher strenght for when you feel a craving.
8: I have 30 coils; I rewick with cotton; I have 10 feet of kanthal to recoil when a coils burns out; 10 of my coils are still in original sealed package untouched more than 6 months old.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/edyle/6350-faq-1-what-tank-new-user.html
miniprotank2v2
standard workhorse tank.
- glass
- eGo thread
- changeable mouthpiece
- common, easy-to-find replacement coilhead.

- you can get an airflow-control base for it

- you can use the miniprotank's base on a protank but to fill the space you will need to add an extra silicone cap like this:

Protank on miniprotank eGo base.

- you can dryburn and/or rewick the coils easily:
Please Log In

- you can recoil with kanthal:

Same answer for both questions - when the performance starts to decline. You will notice a decrease in flavor and vapor production. Rinsing between every tank fill up or 2 with hot water as well as occasional dryburn (youtube "dryburn iclear 30" or dryburn ___whatever tank you have___) can prolong life as well. There is no standard time here as it depends upon how much you vape and your liquids (darker or sweeter liquids will gunk up coils faster than clearer juices)
3-which clearomiser is best for an ego-i was thinking of trying evod.
I am not a huge clearo fan, but I did rather enjoy evods :)
4-on my itaste mvp, what is the correct set up to get a good hard draw and get a t least 2 days out of it before charging.
This will be pretty personally- pick watts OR volts and start low- work your way up one notch at a time until you find the spot you like. If it starts to taste burnt back it down a notch or two. In theory the lowest setting you enjoy and single coils will prolong battery life- but the difference is not all that significant
5- what is the correct way to drag on e cigs- is it a long 4 second drag, then hold it in mouth and exhale?
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/337017-inhalation-technique-e-cigarette.html
6- i have been using 36 mg- is that too strong, and can i mix it with 24mg?
It is Ok for some and to strong for others, you may find that you can use 24 for most of the time and just keep a tank of 36 handy for those "harder" moments. You can absolutely mix them- if you mix them 50/50 the nic would reduce to 30mg
8- this is prob a difficult question to answer, but could someone give an idea of what they would use in a month smoking(if they had to go live on an island-with electricty- )e.g how many coils etc.
I do not use the same devices that you do for my every day, but I did way back...I can only make a guestimate that I would want... 100 mls of liquid, 10 coils and a spare tank or two. If you are not in access to electricity then you will want a USB power bank. Its sort of like your MVP - well just the power charging capabilities with the USB port.
i probably have left something out, but i really dotn want to go back smoking tobacco, and i know that if i have to many days where i cant get a hit of my e cigs ill think about going back to the real thing. Thanks:)

Hope this helps some :)

Hmm lots of odd questions Im going to try to answer this as simply as I can. Why so high on the Nic level are you missing the throat hit? Maybe try something with more pg in it at least 70/30 I just started using 80/20 and like it better since I can get good TH and a cool vape with less watts. If your wanting a good tight draw ( my biggest problem ) you should get a tank with air flow control like aerotank or some of the other brands out there. Hmm get your batteries to last longer thats something I had a hard time with as well. Try using a lower ohm coil in your tank. As far as how much juice I use some days I can get by on about 3-5 mls others a little less or a little more. Ok the island question lol Id take lots of juice you dont want to run out and extra batteries as well. I build coils so Id take my wire and cotton for wicks. Everyone is different on how many coils they use since everyone uses different juice, watts, length of drags.... With my aerotank I just hit it like I did a cig and get about the same affect. But if I dont get satisfied I will take long slow drags into my mouth inhale it and let it out slow it kills the vapor production but you absorb a little more nic. that way.

Welcome. Wow. That's high nic. I was a pack and a half a day smoker and I started out high but quickly went down to 6mg nic. The high nic was making me queasy and slight head aches. I've been vaping 6mg for a very long time and very happy with it. I think if you'd change your pg/vg ratio you'd get more satisfaction from vaping.

Changing your coils depends on usage and the type of juices you are vaping. If you are chain vaping or using dark or colored liquids you'll find you need to change coils often. If you are vaping like you smoked (just a few puffs here and there) then you can get weeks out of a coil. I chain Vape but I build my own coils and change my cotton every couple of days.

thanks for all your replies everybody- learned a fair bit there-have ordered the evod clearomiser and replacements/iclear 30 coil replacements and some e liquid high in vg, so i hope that will do me for the month. I have one more question that i hope people won't take offense at...
i understand there is a 'vaping' community, especially in the USA, are these people(prob including yourselves) just smokers who want to stay tobacco free, and are learning about vaping and want to spread the word or what? Sometimes i check e cig forums and its like i have wandered onto a computer coding forum or something- ohms resistance etc. i dont mean to come across as ignorant, it just sometimes comes across as some sort of hierarchical thing. The one thing i am thankful for is the eagerness for vapers to impart their knowledge of vaping to newbies and appreciate that. looking forward to reply- Thanks

Ask away. That's what this forum is all about.

Personally, I am using vaping a smoking cessation tool. Many others here are too. I have seen a couple of non-smokers that are doing it to lose weight and other non-smokers that just enjoy the flavor and vape 0mg nicotine but both of those are few and far between.

and are learning about vaping and want to spread the word or what?

That's exactly what this forum is and you are now a part of this world wide vaping community.

Sometimes i check e cig forums and its like i have wandered onto a computer coding forum or something- ohms resistance etc. i dont mean to come across as ignorant, it just sometimes comes across as some sort of hierarchical thing.

Don't worry about it. Yes, it can get very technical but only if you want it to. There is a ton of information here to help you along that path if you so chose.

The one thing i am thankful for is the eagerness for vapers to impart their knowledge of vaping to newbies and appreciate that. looking forward to reply- Thanks

I totally agree. I was so pleased to find this forum with its friendly members and wealth of information.

This forum has all types of vapers.

Some just starting, like me.
Some intermediate, vaped for awhile but not into spending lots of cash on fancy mods or "juice delivery devices".
Some "Cloud Chasers", into sub ohm vaping so they can make big clouds of vapor.

And all variants of the above.

I think most of us started because we wanted to stay off tobacco and have tried other methods that only worked temporarily.

Just be ready for the cough; lots of smokers who quit for a while start rejecting the built up crud in the lungs after a few days, and cough up a disturbing amount of tarry goo. Vaping is humidifying it so it comes up more liquid and less painfully, but the first time I quit for a couple weeks by vaping it seemed like it took longer to get through the cough than most people who quit cold turkey.

6- i have been using 36 mg- is that too strong, and can i mix it with 24mg?

Not sure about mixing but 36mg is the highest I've seen and yes, that's what I use. After vaping on and off for a year, I've finally stopped those last couple of cigs each day. I was a 25-30 full flavor smoker. Why do I use 36mg? Due to work I sometimes have little time to vape so it gets me the needed dosage between breaks. But you must be careful at 36mg. I've been in casual environments vaping away and have experienced an overdose of nicotine - sick stomach and clammy. It takes about 15 minutes to go away. Once you get use to vaping and away from cigs then I suggest going down nicotine levels. That's my plan once I finish my last bottle of 36mg juice.

Vapers are all types but I smoked for around 37 years and this is the ONLY thing that has successfully got me off cigarettes. I don't know too many smokers who have smoked for 50 or 60 years. While I'm still addicted to nicotine much like my sister who quit cigarettes 7 years ago but goes through 20 nicotine tablets each day...at least I'm not sucking in the other harmful ingredients.

hi all- thanks for all your replies. i was also wondering.. i use an 1300mah ego battery and a few different clearomisers but hear a lot about different batteries. is it possible to buy a 2300/250mah battery and use it in my ego? My ego lasts about a day and a half, but i think the loss in performance could be down to the clearomiser itself maybe? Am really happy with my itaste mvp(though tires of the reaction i get- What the hell is that?) but looking for something just as powerful and not as huge- have been looking at spinners/vamo's etc. would be interested to know what people thought- Cheers

Hopefully that was a typo. As jstjoe suggested above, you might be using such high nic levels to get a powerful throat hit. If that's the case, then you'll probably want high PG, not high VG.

I come from other forum in The Netherlands and if I had issues with vaping devices, I got frustrated at the Dutchy forum bc never heard any good advice and even started to think, "did they ever build a good coil or anything just one time for themselfs already?!".

There coils are gone in 2 days within all the wicks no matter what... only the 2 screws still there!
I really don't think that's healthy vaping.

Al the time I ended up to this forum for solutions if had any problem, so from now on I will stay to this forum :)

As a vaper for all of 3 weeks, I know what you mean about wanting a tight, cigarette-like draw. As advised by #5, I'd suggest a tank with air flow control. I've got a Kanger Aerotank Mega - expensive, but I reckon if I go back to analogues because I can't find a vape I'm happy with, that will be the most costly option of all... I know you can get after-market add-on air flow control for Protanks, but don't know about others.

I also know what you mean about getting nicotine fix at work. My boss is used to me taking a cigarette break every 90 minutes; but after 60 minutes on 18mg juice, I'm gasping. Then in evening, vaping on 18mg means I don't sleep. I've just got myself some 30mg and low-nic in vapemail today for work and evenings. I reckon anything is better than going back to cigarettes, so am willing to try just about any combination, so long as I keep vaping...

Good luck!

hi- thanks for all you replies so far- just have a couple of questions- The first one is... i feel im beginning to get a bit obsessed about clearomisers, batteries, liquids etc! does anyone else find this- its like im trying to get the perfect combination, and also trying to figure out how much i need to buy for the week/month etc... so.. i have an itaste mvp which i like but not gone on the iclear30 i am using. i also have an ego(1300mah) which is just ok- should i purchase a vision spinner 2 1600mah for €30 and also use the evod for both itaste and spinner. so i wd then have itaste for home use and spinner for out and about, both with evod- cost is very much an issue so that might rule out pro tanks etc? Cheers
