A new study finds diacetyl in e-cigarettes but exaggerates risks and fails to discuss about smoking

"In conclusion, the article is creating false impressions and exaggerates the potential risk from diacetyl and acetyl propionyl exposure through e-cigarettes. They failed to mention that these chemicals are present in tobacco cigarette smoke and violated a classical toxicological principle that the amount determines the toxicity and the risk.

[snip]

"Smokers need to be informed about the risk from continuing smoking versus a risk coming from use of diacetyl containing e-liquids. We should not forget that the risk from discouraging smokers to use e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation tool is higher than the risk of being exposed to diacetyl and acetyl propionyl at the average levels found in this study. A simple response mix your own and add no flavor or mix your own and add the flavor of your choice. Would that satisfy the anti crowd? Of course not. They would move on to something else and something else, ad nausium. The issue they will never bring up is the only one they care about, the money. Follow the money.

And no where in this kind of story do you ever see speculation about fixing the problem so vaping is okay because for the people who raise these issues vaping will never be okay. Well, unless there was some way to preserve the tobacco tax base. Then vaping would be okay, right?

Yes! Thank you for passing it on.
That's a response the vaping community needed! We cannot let these people hold a one-sided debate in the world press.
What response you are talking about? Who reads Dr. F blog beyond a few devoted vapers?
There were no vaper friendly response in general media.

We cannot let these people hold a one-sided debate in the world press.
Did you mean we can not stop these people from holding a one-sided debate in the world press?
Because that is exactly what they are doing with this issue, and MANY others.

The only way to stop ANY of this is to wake up the populace to what is going on.
And since the world press isn't going to help with that we need to do it one person at a time.

It may take a very long time though.
Like it did with That Which Shall Not Be Mentioned.

But with the internet things can move faster nowadays.
Hopefully faster will be fast enough, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

In the meantime, educate.
