Dr. Thomas Polucki tells dangerous lies about vaping in an apparent attempt to drum up business. Will he respond to the demands that he retract, or present evidence, for his unsubstantiated claims, that could contribute to more death and destruction from smoking?

vaping Nicotine Is Smoking, As Dangerous As Smoking tobacco

"So I quit smoking, and if I can, anyone can. "
He must not understand psychology or addiction very well.

"The best way to avoid addiction is to not get started."
Really? What an enlightening concept!

"Personally, I believe in zero tolerance for underage vaping..."
And if a kid is trying to quit smoking through vaping? Oh wait, this argument holds up because:

"Those devices are still about smoking and addictive substances... You must see vaping as smoking, and just as bad, because it is..."
'Hey, I'm a Dr., so you know I'm right.' I should've gone to medical school. If this guy can do it, anyone can.

Also, 1998 called: even they don't want their hair back.

That "if I can do it, anyone can" also displays the most outrageous and unrepentant egoism I've ever seen; that the world revolves around that person, and all standards are to be set by THAT person's abilities and desires. Much like the argument earlier in another thread, that if one individual can go "an hour or two" without a vape, well then everyone can, and everyone must! -- so as not to aggravate those who can! -- and if anyone can't, well then there's something wrong with them, and they should 'see a doctor' -- probably a quack like this guy, no doubt.

And the last one, "You must see vaping as smoking, and just as bad, because it is..." sounds to me like he's got quite a lot of stock in BP NRT, and is about to lose his shirt since they're so useless, and now we have an option which is actually effective! Can we say 'ulterior motive'? Can we say 'disingenuous'? I knew we could. ;)

The man isn't even an MD. He's a CHIROPRACTOR and "Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner" Whatever the hell that is.
I'd also say he's probably just plain certifiable too. Where does he come off with these statements, without citing/posting ANY links to back them up?

He didn't. But just because he didn't, doesn't mean you can't. But he has a one hour weekly radio program. If he can do that, anyone can. From the promo at the end of the article:
Dr. Thomas Polucki is a Board Certified Doctor of Chiropractic, Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, Certified Metabolic Typing Advisor and Certified Upper Cervical Chiropractor.
Dr. Polucki also hosts the “Dr. Polucki Family Health Hour” on AM 1220 KHTS radio in Santa Clarita
Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon.
Click here to listen to the podcasts.

Yesterday's show was "Smoke and Mirrors Topic: Dangers of Smoking and Vaping". Can you imagine an hour of him on the subject of vaping? The podcast player didn't work for me, and when I tried to stream it from the download link, my browser couldn't do it, telling me "the file is corrupt." I gave it aother try by downloading and playing it, but yup, corrupt file. Corrupt doctor, corrupt show, so no surprise, I guess.

What I want to know is why aren't there any consequenses? Why do these people keep being allowed to do this and get away with it?

The push for "public health" by "public health" with their "public health" priorities as number one, the health of the public as number one trillion.

I'd just like to know in what reality raising tobacco taxes saves lives... it nearly took mine, because there were times when it was so hard to afford cigarettes, I seriously considered just offing myself, so I wouldn't need them anymore.

Thank GOD for e-cigs!

And here is something that "public health" needs to know... some people would seriously rather die than contemplate going without cigarettes!

And many do die without getting off of cigarettes. People like him talk in ideal terms like "can", but practicality is what they ignore.

Notice what they put first, "public health" admitting the money is more important.
Here's a larger quote from the url in that graphic Uma posted ( WHO | The economic and health benefits of tobacco taxation ). You'll see the first thing mentioned is lots of money for governments (not necessarily for spending on public health - probably more for keeping incumbents in power).

The Economic and Health Benefits of Tobacco Taxation, produced by the Tobacco Free Initiative of the World Health Organization and the Secretariat of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, highlights the importance of tobacco control in the post-2015 development agenda, and the potential for higher taxes on tobacco products to act as a large funding source for governments. Taxing tobacco products has been proven to be the most effective tobacco control measure for reducing consumption, and therefore saving lives. Introducing higher tobacco taxation is a win-win policy: it not only saves lives, but it also increases government revenue that can then be spent on health and development priorities.

I believe that the taxes on, and rising prices of cigarettes, has has conrtibuted to the homelessness problem in the U.S. It also wouldn't surprise me at all that the hate campaign in its entirety has contributed to the suicide problem, now that you mention it.

Well, it was at least 50% of my reason for switching to vaping -- when I found out how much cheaper e-cigs were, compared to cigarettes, that was all she wrote for my cigarette habit.

And a big ol neener to those idiots -- they priced themselves right outta my budget.

The player still won't work for me. The download link keeps downloading incomplete files of various sizes. I finally was able to download the entire show using the flashgot plugin for firefox.

I'll listen to the show, hoping that he takes phone calls from listeners as part of the show, and that they all call to argue with him and expose his lies. If not, I'm probably going to have to come back and try again to break the link.

Just ask one of the mods to do it.

Edit: After repeated tries, I can't get the link to break. No playable misinfo file, so I'm posting it unbroken.

Your computer knows BS, when you attempt to open it. I think it's more than just the file that's corrupt

I've listened to the program. It's incredibly reptitive. He says only a few things, but over and over and over again, for the entire show. Lots of mention of the horrors of COPD and saying that 90% of it is caused by smoking (I think it's supposedly 75%), with claims that vaping is the exact same thing as smoking. Plenty of other misinfo, too, and like with his article, he ends the show with promoting his services.

I was going to attach a 35 second clip from the show, but I can't figure out how. It's something he says about vaping which he repeats many times throughout the hour. It's an mp3 file. I have nowhere to post it online for linking to. It's 280kb, but I can make it smaller. I'll try to find out later if there's a way to attach it. If not, I'll transcribe it.
