Dragon wicking

Ok, im new to mech mods coil building wicking etc, I was told that I could get better vape and flavor if I wrapped a macro or micro coil and do a dragon wick. I started from behind the coil from the bottom and looped up and bsck around the coil. Now I made sure to keep one end open and closed off the other. Now im not sure if its the coil or maybe I used to much cotton or something but its not good. So should I take out the cotton and try again or is dragon wicking not living up to the hype?

Aldo I may have made yhe coil too big. I think ill re wrap a smaller one. I was just not wanting a supper sub ohm you know

The idea with a dragon coil is to have a very small inside diameter but a much longer coil... So you get a lot of concentrated heat, but at the same time it's spread over a fairly decent surface area... I have a dual dragon coil built in my Atomic right now as a matter a fact... It's .5 ohm using twisted 30...

Contrary to what the videos would have you believe, wicking is the hardest part of rebuilding. You can tell instantly whether a coil looks good and has the right resistance, but not whether the wick has too much cotton or too little, is too loose or too tight, etc, etc.

Agreed... and with the dragon method it's very easy to get too much wick or get it to compressed... Especially in a small atty like the atomic... You've got to have enough wick to cover the surface of the coil, but you can't get it "tight" or else it just won't wick properly... and especially with tucking the tails up under the coil the way you do, it's easy to get too much jammed in there and not know it.

If you are dead set on the dragon coil,

try folding the wick in half but leaving a loop,
then fold that around the coil,
pull the two ends through the loop like a hitch knot
tighten and arrange wick as needed. (props to treehead i think is his name here)

if you are looking for a good .5-.6 build I usually just do a dual coil out of 26 guage around a 1/16 with standard threaded wicking and it works great. heats up fast and hot with good vapor production

I tried threading that small but I cant gey it through the hole without it bunching up. This is why im doing the dragon wick. But if threading is better ill give it another shot. [emoji2]

Also, how many wraps?

10 wraps each coil. I dont know if it is better, but I know when I first started I just threaded the wick and it worked great, a hellofalot better then the iclear 30 I had been using lol what are you using for wick? I have gotten the best results from rayon, and before that cotton balls

P.S. download vaporstoolbox from the google play store on your phone. it will allow you to figure out different coil builds to get your target resistance with different coil DIA and guages

Im useing just organic cotton balls. Should I roll it small tight and pull it through?

this is some pics of the build. Thinking I made it too long, to many wrapsvi believe. LoL.
