#5 - Several years ago I literally carried a gorgeous Murano 22" bowl all the home from Italy. I wasn't going to trust anyone with it or put it down. That was a loooonnnnggggg trip!

A few years later my 11 years old broke it. I was so mad I just said "run for your life" (just kidding I would never hurt my kid) then just sat down on the stairs and cried and cried. My then wise-beyond-her-years 7 y.o. calmly put her hand on my shoulder and said "it's just an object mom. we are all safe and that is what matters". I was completely floored by her insight and pulled myself together. Way to put life into perspective out of the mouth of a babe! Called to the kids and said "hey we got a mess to clean up and then it's time for ice cream"!

Amazing how kids can be so incredibly wise while we adults act like children. But I still gotta admit I miss that damn gorgeous Murano bowl!!!!!!

#1 Somethings you just never forget:
I hitchhiked from the USA to CANADA with a friend when I was 18.

When I was was 20 I jumped in my friends car and went skiing in Vail Colorado, he ended up with a broken leg and had to fly back to Massachusetts. I ended up with his Volvo, moved to Aspen and didn't leave there until a year later.

I decided to try to make it from Aspen to Denver in the wee hours of the night. I ended up on Vail Pass in a complete whiteout. Good thing I had chains on my tires and there was a semi truck in front of me! I made it though!

Those were the days when I was carefree and lived on the edge. Good thing I never fell :D:

#6 - Continuation of story from my #4: At one point an owner of an antique shop owned the house. They sold the house and the night before the closing or from them moving out (I can't remember which) the house was "robbed" and the Tiffany window was "stolen". Crime was never solved and the window was never recovered. A few years after that the antique owners closed there shop and moved out of state. Hummm................???????
