Drip tip getting super hot

I'm using an eGo One with the 1.0 ohm coil. Vaped on it all day yesterday and never noticed the drip tip getting overly hot. It got a little warm, but nothing that interrupted my vape. All was good. The battery had just started telling me it was down to 60% at the end of the day. I charged it up and went to bed. Woke up, topped off the tank, went for a wake up vape, and nearly burnt my lips off. Tip gets so hot that 2-3 seconds into my draw I have to stop because my lips are burning.

I know I can get different drip tips and I see there are little delrin insulators you can buy. But I'm not understanding why yesterday it was fine and today it's searing hot right off the bat, very first vape. Any insight?

Thanks for the input. I pulled the base pin out of the atomizer, wires looked snug and the positive lead was flat and didn't stick out beyond the pin and the rubber insulator piece. Positive and negative leads were separated. Went and looked at a couple of the youtube vids on replacing coils in atomizer heads to refresh my memory. I just don't see anything wrong with it (which is not to say there can't be something wrong somewhere because I didn't disassemble it completely). Everything seated back together nice and snug.

The .5 coil is giving me the same result. Seems unlikely, though I guess not impossible, that both of the atomizers would be shorting out. The tank itself isn't getting hot, just the mouthpiece. Maybe my perception is different today b/c I'm vaping more aggressively or because my lips became sensitive from chain vaping nearly the entire day yesterday? Kind of grasping at straws I guess. I'll stop by the B&M later today and talk to them as well as pick up a different drip tip.

Maybe I'm just being a noob and things I'm obsessing about now I won't give a second thought to a month from now. Or maybe it's just my technique. If I don't mash the button continuously and kind of pulse it off and on 3 or 4 times during the hit, the mouthpiece doesn't get nearly as hot.
