hey, I just got a nemmy clone and a stillaire clone and it's my first dripper. i've messed around with coils quite a bit, currently running a dual twisted 28ga
and I love it about 30% of the time. I put the cotton through the coil, just a little bit wider than my 3mm coil uncompressed, and sometimes it works BEAUTIFULLY, and sometimes it's awful with the throat hit of a thousand suns and less vapor production than a clearo.
what am I doing wrong? am I getting the infamous "dry hit"? and how do I fix it? I usually drip when the cotton just starts to show dryness around the edges, like just speckled with dry. should I drip more? drip less? where do I drip? on the coil or on the ends of the cotton?
give me some drip tips

Lol!

When flavor starts to degrade I pop some more juice in... Some times strait through the mouth piece, or if I'm inspecting the build I'll swirl the tip of the bottle around the build, hitting the coils and cotton with juice. It's in a quick and not super accurate motion. I hit the power button for a second and the juice just sucks right into the cotton. I over drip a bit and leave some juice in the well, but not so much that it runs down the side of my mod..

Drip on the whole strand of cotton you are using and you can drip on the coil too. A tip is after rewicking your cotton count how many drops you're dripping and check your wick after every couple of hits, until you get a better idea of how much juice your burning. Also are you making sure your cotton is completely smooth and not to thick or too thin?

What Ohms are you running, if you're too low you will have to re drip more often?

i've messed around with the cotton a lot and I think I found a way that works... just draw it out and get it smooth and a little wider than the coil
i'm running about .4 ohms but Im using an old multimeter so thats a rough estimate

If you're multi meter only reads to the tenth ie: 0.4 your build can be anywhere between 0.35-0.44 ohms. Also I wasn't paying attention too much but I just noticed you're using twisted gauge wire, and twisted gauge takes longer to heat up. And it's better not to drip blind so you know if your wick is saturated.

If you get very scratchy throat hit you're most probably vaping hot kanthal. 3 possibilities :

- not enough cotton. One side of the coil is not touching the wick and it gets red hot.

- too much cotton. The wick is too tight in the coil and can't suck new juice in.
If you have good hits just after dripping then it goes bad it's probably the reason. You should be able to move the wick quite easily in the coil, it should have a bit of resistance but not too much.

- bad coil, with hotspots. You can test for that by juicing ad usual and firing your mod with the top cap off for say 7-8 secs. If a part of the coil or legs gets red, that's a hotspot. Might be helped by compressing the coil if you're using a contact coil.

Are you experiencing this varying performance on the same coil? Diminished vapor and harsh hits are typically caused by miss-aligned airflow or wicking issues. If your coil is getting too much juice, you will experience different flavor and it can be somewhat harsher. Sizzling is good, but if your coil is popping and throwing juice everywhere it is drowning. If your coil is getting too little juice, you will get a burnt flavor preceded by a dryer feeling vape along with excessive sizzling after your hits. With a coil that hot I would recommend always having some juice in the well to replenish the wick, so long as your atty allows for this without flooding the coil or leaking. In my experience, even with half the wattage, the hits start to dry out far before the wick shows any visible signs of drying out. A .4Ω coil is a thirsty monster, it requires ample juice and airflow.

I've heard that subohm coils do better with a lot of airflow but I usually keep mine half open to let it condense more vapor, it seems better that way
I didn't know that popping was a bad thing though my kayfun does it all the time and I kinda like it
okay I guess I just need to vape on it more, so I know when it's getting dry. sizzling is good, a lot of sizzling is bad. I'll remember that
