So I was cleaning out my junk drawer tonight and I came across a staples 1.0 gel pen. I came up with a good mod for those of us frugal (read: cheap) types. I popped the plug out of the end, cut off about 3/4 of an inch from the top and snapped it into place. Instant drip tip! It might be a good idea to sand down the little bump a bit so it doesn't fit quite so snug. I think these are the same pens and you get a dozen of them for almost the same price as a drip tip. If you pick them up you will see the end is designed to have the cap snapped on when you are writing, and this suits our purposes perfectly!
ETA: use a hacksaw or a serrated knife to cut the plastic, it is a little brittle. I'll try to take decent pics tomorrow.
