Dripper wick...how much is enough?

I see a lot of people using a ton of wick in their rda's, is this a personal preference or is there a legitimate reason why people are stuffing their decks with cotton?

I use the same size wick I would for my kayfun and just stuff the excess under and around my coil, it absorbs every drop without gradually drying a large portion of the wick after each pull.

Am I overthinking this or am I missing out on anything by using less wick?

Sometimes less is more. I have enough cotton on each end to reach the deck and not much more. It isn't necessary to cover the deck with cotton.

This is what I do. I would assume though that stuffing the deck with cotton might be along the lines of "if there is more cotton there I won't have to drip as often."

I don't do that either. I think the people doing it that way may think they don't have to drip as often and they are probably correct. There are also a lot of different coil and wick designs, some of which do not use cotton through the coil but under it or around it. These need more cotton.

I exclusively use RDA's for best flavor experience and reliability

all of the above may apply to you setup but
also if you use VW device or mech Mod with good battery you may adjust you wick lenth
be it cotton silica cord eco-wool or hibryd wick
given certain hi Wattege say 25 Watts each will vaporise juice differently
and lastly each of us likes different vaping experiance
some like warm dry vape some like moist cooler vape thats me
so experimenting will lead you to best setup for you

^^I figured that may be the case with a lot of people...there are a lot of variables that contribute to the perfect vape, different strokes for different folks I guess.
