I'm waaaay too lazy to drip full time. I just compensate with flavoring strength to overcome any taste from the filling in my carto tanks, and actually it doesn't take much to do that.

Dripping is confined to tasting juice as I make it and it steeps.

One of the other responders to this thread was extolling the virtue of clearomizer tanks, and my take on that is like my take on everything connected with vaping. Each person has their likes and dislikes and each has to find what suits them.

I don't understand how people can drip full time. It seems like a lot of work. But then again, if I understand correctly, the flavor is more intense that way?

That's a good idea about switching up the flavor from your cart tanks. Sounds good, too, if my taste buds get tired of what I normally vape.

I just get those dern clearos to work. I seem to burn them each time I try them. On another note, I just learned carto tanks don't last forever! Just figured out why it kept gurgling on me, tank leakage. Doh!

Thanks for your help and suggestions, I really appreciate it!

Depends on what clearos you're trying to use. Another step up option, and what has also worked well for me, are the Vivi Nova tanks.

let us know how it goes. If you find you love dripping, then I recommend trying a 306 atty with a DCA 306 from Goodsensevapor.com, just search for "what is a dca 306?" on youtube and you will understand! No more leaking...EVER!

That's actually pretty awesome looking! Watched GrimmGreene's video, too.

For right now, I went with the 510 atomizer with drip shield from Empire Mods.

What is the different between a 510 and 306, please?

Seems like the 306 is the more popular?

Thanks!

The 306 is similar to the 510, same threading but there's no tube around the coil and bridge. It makes for easy cleaning, changing flavors, good for trying out different juices. The drip tip takes the place of the 510's tube.

+1 on the Vivi-Nova for a all day vape, no leaks, easy fill, good flavor and vapor.

Oh, I see now, thanks!

I'm baa-ack. Just received all my wonderful new toys from Empiremods. I ordered the Empiremods Bridge Free LR510 1.5ohm atomizer with the Stainless Steel Drip Shield. Well, and plus I couldn't resist ordering the matching ridged SS drip tip.

So I put the atomizer on my Ego Twist, then proceeded to try and slip the shield over it. Um, yeah, that didn't work. I think I was supposed to get the adapter for the shield to work with my Ego.

Do you know if I can still try the atomizer without it leaking? Or should I just wait till I get the adapter? Just got some new juices from Vape Dudes and wanted to taste test them.

Keith at Empiremods has been really helpful and patient through email answering my questions. Here's what he said:

"I would start with 6-8 drops then 3-4 when dryness comes into play or you feel need be. When you want to clean them out to try new juice just turn blow through the top out the bottom of the atomizer connection onto napkin. Then repeat drip 5-6 drops or so with new juice to restart with a new juice should be ok."

What do you think? Is this they most everybody does this? I wanted to get everyone's opinion here, too. I'm such a wuss when it comes to trying out new things. =]

Thanks, again!

Okay, so Keith said I didn't need the adaptor. Someone please explain to me how to put this thing on? Do I put the atomizer on first, then slip the shield over it? It doesn't seem to want to go on. Do I force it on? Do I lube it a little? *frustration* Maybe somebody draw me some stick pictures. I dunno. ^_^

I have never been able to use an atty with a drip shield on an ego without a shorty 510/510 adapter. I get them from Keith and the sealed ones.

The bottom o ring on the drip shield needs to cover the join of the atomizer to whatever it's screwed into to keep it from leaking except into the shield. The drip shield has 2 small holes drilled in the sides at the top end for drawing in air to help you suck the juice out of the shield and back into the atty.

Putting it on the adapter gives the shield bottom o ring room to work, without one you run into the ego itself.

//edit

I always put the atty on the adapter, put on the shield and then screw the adapter onto the battery. Drip tip on last if it won't fit thru the shield.

When I just emailed Keith a little while ago, he said to me 'like he told me before, I didn't need an adapter.' Either way, the drip shield doesn't fit over the 510 atomizer that I have. But this atomizer doesn't have any visable holes so it should just work if I put it directly on my Ego without any leaking. Actually, I dripped 8 drops into it, waited a couple of minutes, then inhaled. First hit was good, then it has a little burny kind of taste. Just tried inhaling it again and same thing. I'm afraid to fry it now. BTW, does it matter where I drip the drops in it?

Thanks for your continuous patience and help!

Sounds like you need more drops. Atties need to be primed at first. Try adding a drop at a time and taking a dry pull (without firing the atty) until you get a slight gurgle.

OIC. Okay, whew, just tasted a new juice, not a big fan, extra strength Ice Ice, good for cleaning out your sinuses though. Now if I want to try another of my new juices, Keith said I just blow out what's in it and drip in a new one? Blow from the top or the connector?

Thanks, rdwg!

All I do is drip, and I wouldn't bother with a cartomizer or tank even if you paid me.
:)

For almost three years now I have been using standard Joye 510 atomizers (2.3 ohms) for dripping.

I mostly have been using them with my 4.8 volt NiMH batteries and they are perfect for me.
And now I am using them on my new Twist as well, and they are still perfect for me.

I tried the 306 atomizers for awhile but I didn't find them to be any better, and the drip tips are a pain in the .... on that atomizer design.

I don't understand how people can drip full time. It seems like a lot of work.
I know I'm definitely in the minority, but I honestly don't understand how people can NOT drip full time.
:)

Dripping, when you learn how to do it right, works all the time every time with no hassles other than, well, the dripping part.
And the dripping part, as far as I'm concerned, is no more of a hassle than dealing with a pack of smokes and a lighter.

--Taking out the little juice bottle is no more of a hassle than taking out a pack of smokes
--Opening the juice bottle is no more of a hassle than taking out a lighter and one of the smokes from the pack
--Dripping is no more of a hassle than lighting the cigarette
--Putting the bottle back is no more of a hassle than putting back the lighter and pack of smokes

Besides, I am way too lazy to be filling and cleaning and messing with cartomizers.
:)

I suppose you get a cleaner taste, but it would still seem like a hassle in a way to me. I don't even attempt to clean cartos any more. Since I finally got the carto and tank thing down pat, I fill it and it lasts me all day.

Ewww, so I blew out the one flavor I had in the atty and filled it with another. Unfortunately, the first one had way too much menthol and can still be tasted with the new juice. Oh well... I'm living and learning.

Stlll can't figure out why my drip shield won't fit on my 510 atty. =(
