So I noticed that a lot of juice is coming out if the bottom of the 501 atomizer I have and it's getting all in the battery connection and what not. Am I doing something wrong?

Is there more to dripping than just dripping it in and then smoking it?

If it's leaking you are either adding drops before it needs it, forcing the liquid that's in it to drain, or adding more drops than that atty can handle. Some atties are more leak prone than others. When the flavor starts to weaken, but before you get a dry hit, is the optimal time to redrip. Two or three drops is about what most 510s can take. Alternatively, you can pick up a drip shield and not have to worry about leaking.

Yeah I have one in the mail from empire mods. It isn't so much the issue of dripping out the side (which it has done some) but when I unscrew the atty I notice it between the battery and the atty.

I keep hearing people talk about 501 and 901. What's the difference?

I would say when I have the option Dripping is my favorite. I love it and it sure is a Labor of Love because its the most labor intensive way to vape.

I use a Kanger T2 just a little bit modified to drip. You can only get about two drips of liquid on it at a time but the taste is awesome.

You don't need to worry about any juice that get's in the connection. That's pretty normal and is the reason unsealed automatic batteries aren't a good idea to drip with. I just make sure I always wipe the connection down before charging.

EM is where I also get my drip shields. Very nice quality and look very cool. For the 510, you'll want to use a shorty 510-510 adapter to lengthen your atty. Read the reason why at EM if you haven't done so already.

901 and 510 are two very different atomizers. The 901 has a female connection and a 510-901 adapter is needed to use it on a 510 threaded battery. The 901 is a little longer, and instead of pulling air through the slots in the bottom it has a small hole a little ways up from the bottom. It can be a little more picky on how many drops before it leaks through that hole. The drip shield is actually made specifically for the 901 because of how prone to leaking it is. Generally speaking, the 901 produces better flavor and sometimes more vapor than the 510, but has a milder throught hit.

This is my set up when dripping on a normal PV (eGo type connections take a different set up)
    P1000581.jpg

    #1 sealed 510-510 shorty adapter
    #2 atomizer
    #3 drip shield
    #4 drip tip
This almost eliminates any leakage, but the shield needs to be cleaned out a couple of times/day. The way the shield works is any leaking is contained by an o-ring that is just below the atty connector. The next time you take a hit the juice is drawn right back into the atomizer.

However, if you find that you like dripping, you will love one of these.
