There's another thread going hot along these lines but, decided to start a new one as, it appears things are different for me than everyone else.
For dripping, I use an ego with a 1.8 ohm cisco 306 atty and drip tip. My favorite juice that does NOT clog up atties, PureSmoker Silver Leaf Menthol.
I typically drip in 5-7 drops when I drip, and get around 5 hits per drop. If I don't watch it the juice will drip out the bottom and all over my ego (yeah, this has happenned a couple of times). But, this is only when I drip while I already have juice in there. Only happenned once to me in the last month or so and not something I am worried about. I really don't know what people are talking about when they say 'flooded atty'.... unless this is it. Yeah, when this has happened I just say 'aw sheesh' (actually, that is not exactly what I say <g>) and clean things up.
For you newbies on this... listen up. When I first started dripping on higher wattage... no taste (this was with dripping directly to 306 atty bridge/wick... dripping 2-3 drops). But, when I got the drip tips I noticed that all's you have to do is drip more drops and the taste comes back... what is going on here is higher wattage means more TH but less (or no) flavor, but if you drip more drops then the heat from the wattage is dissipated over more juice, and thus the vapor is at the temperature you need to get the flavor.. so you get the flavor AND you get more vapor than you would otherwise.
With the SLM, it is kinda bizarre. Dripping 5-7 drops and at first you get the sweet, menthol, mint taste with the underlying tobacco taste, but the middle of the vape it is more like cigarette smoke... not much taste at all, and when you get towards the end of the vape, a real strong tobacco taste (IMO this is way cool). This is a matter of different flavors performing differently at different wattages... though in this case it is a matter of how much juice the heat is dissipated over.
The big problem with dripping for me.... attys get clogged up by most juice and I don't know how anyone can wade through this unless they have unlimited funds or... yeah, maybe an ultrasound cleaner might work. Otherwise, I only got two juices that do not clog up atties enough that I drip... my 20 or so other juices.... were all banned to cartos because I couldn't get through a 6 ML bottle on many and the atties were all clogged up (as seen though 10x magnification and the open bridge atties).
As far as the boges (straight... 2.0 ohm)... the interesting thing about the boges is the horizontal heating element (some call it the horizontal coil but if it not in a coil form how can you call it a coil?). What this means is the heat is distributed over a larger area than you get with coils... and that means less TH but more flavor... again it is a matter of how the heat is dissipated. Otherwise, with the cartomizers there is the underlying 'cottony' taste.
Within the last month or so, I picked up come vision clearos and... almost as good as dripping. Actually, the same as dripping with the wicks not removed (I pick the wicks out of my ciscos)... and you can replace the atties in these for $3 each or less... and wowsa... got lots of juice running on these that were not really making it on the boges.
So, my comments on all this. Hope it all makes sense.
