Please help by explaining dripping. I was told today by a vendor that it is for "advanced vapers".

1. How is it done?

2. What kind of equipment is required?

3.How does it differ from regular vaping?

4. Is there any benefit from dripping that is not available otherwise?

In short, what's the scoop? :?:

I think dripping is one of the simplest ways.

1. You drop 2 drops of liquid into the atomizer. Then you vape.
2. You need a non-auto battery, an atomizer and a drip tip.
3. The drips only last for a few minutes until you need to add more drips. It has more of the "ritual" aspects I enjoyed re: smoking.
4. The flavor is usually better.

Of course, it can get more complex than that, but it is far from advanced in basics.

Actually, I don't think it's for advanced because if you are new and testing ejuice, this is the quickest and cheapest way to test them, as you only need to use 2-5 drops. It does take a little *practice* to get it right.

A few members helped me learn about dripping, like DC2, so I'll pass on what I know.

Dripping is simply dripping juice directly onto an atomizer, thru a drip tip, then vaping it. You will only get a few drags this way, like 3-6 or so. some people only vape this way full time. they are getting the taste of juice without the added complexity of carto polyfill or tank wicks, which some people can "taste".

All you need is an atomizer, a drip tip atop your battery or mod.

Some of the attys have primer fluid in them from the factory, to keep them moist, so you want to blow that out from the battery connection end in a paper towel first, cause it tastes awful.

some atomizers hold more juice than others, so it is trial and error. but basically you drip about 3-5 drops onto your drip tip (the first time you use the atty its good to use 3-5, afterwards you can probably just do 2-3).
first time, wait a minute or so for it to go down the drip tip and into the atty, then fire up your pv and try a few hits. When you get no more vapor production or a dry hit, it's time to drip more juice into your tip.

The fiddly part for me was getting the amt. of juice right because I was putting in too much or too fast and it dripped out the connection end and down the sides of my battery!

Also, it takes a little while for some attys to "break in" and they get better after a few days. Then there is trying out different attys, and everyone has their preference.

also search on "how to care for atomizer", there are some good posts here about that, and you tube videos on youtube.

Sorry this isn't numbered and pretty, in a hurry today

I was also told that I should not start out with dripping - makes no sense because it is quite easy. Because of that I failed to get attys with my first order so trying out all of my new juices was more labor intensive than dripping.
I prefer to use cartos, but when sitting at home it's nice to drip. And you can try as many flavors as you want as the juice just burns off and you start fresh each time.

I started out with cartos on a v2 cigs kit. Worked great, I didn't touch a cig since the day my kit came in. I moved up to mods and 510 cartos, tanks, etc. All was good, until somehow one day someone got me to try a bridgeless LR 510 atty. Wow, I now have a bunch of different attys, my favorites are the HH.357, also LR306s in a DCA, and stingray 510s. I can barely use cartos/tanks anymore. Attys have incredible flavor, and now I cannot go back! I have seen some really sweet tanks- the lava tank, bella, elegance, and the Pro-V tank, and want them but know that I will not use them, or only rarely. Make sure you are ready to drip- once you drip, you never go back! Well in my case at least hahaha.

I'd recommend ikenvape attys. I rock a 1.5 ohm on my twist and get great flavors and lots of vapor. As far as drip shields, as long as you don't over drip you shouldn't need one. In my case if have to get an ego drip cone unless I used an adapter. So I just simply watch my drops. It's a learning curve.

For me, this replaces the fiddling with a lighter and asking when I used to smoke. It's become like a ritual now and is extremely enjoyable.

What is a "LR306 in a DCA"?
I'm new to dripping. I have a Cisco LR306 that I have used a few times. But what is a DCA?

Any other veteran drippers have my permission to answer this too.
Thanks in advance.

This is the DCA GoodSense Vapor - 306DCA
Usually out of stock, but it is a beautiful drip shield in polished silver or anodized black so if it is out of stock and you really want one just hit the notify me when in stock link and they email you when it is in. If you have a bottom feeder mod the DCA is sealed so you have to drip through the top, and they also have thread covers for the ego that match the black and silver to give it a sleek look on the ego batteries. If I didn't have my bottom feeder and still had my ego batteries it is what I would be using. If you like the i06 atty they have a DCA for that one too.

Can you recommend a good atty and drip shield?
Do you like bridgeless or with a bridge?
If you are going to be able to make your own coils, I suggest you check the Phoenix rebuildable atomizer.
You can make different configurations with 1, 2 or even triple coil setup(two coils with wicks on each side and vertical ss mesh in center.
Costs about 15 bucks.
Cant do better than this.

I have an atomizer which I normally slot ego tank cartridges into.
I also have a 510 size drip tip that I use on cartomizers.
After reading this thread I had a go at dripping directly into the atomizer and it works really well.

However, my drip tip does not fit the atomizer. The drip tip is too small. Do I need a different size drip tip?

I'll just be using it for tasting new flavors, so I don't plan on building coils or getting too complicated with it.
I'm just looking for a simple, reliable mid-range atty.
One of my biggest questions though was to go with one that is bridgeless or not.

I think folks usually take the stuffing out of their cartridge & use that as their drip tip. Folks don't seem to like the atty+cartridge setup & just use the atty.
This is what I have read here not first hand experience. I have a Cisco LR306 atty that came with its own long drip tip.
Vape on

I am new to this site, but I have been vaping for about 3 years now. I have tried everything and then some. I prefer a combination of drip and blue foam. I don't bother with a drip tip they all annoy me. I just put a small piece of blue foam in a normal cart, drip two drops on the atty and two more on the blue foam. I get enough hits that it's around the same as one full cig. I have tried cartomizers, clearomizers, tanks you name it. for all day long consistent vaping I have found nothing that works better. Months and months without the frustrations I had trying to go all fancy.

Whoa! What was the big deal? They made it sound like rocket science. Thanks for the response.

Well, there are more advanced dripping setups, but those are the basics and should get you started. I should also mention that you need to ensure the liquid has gone the drip tip so you don't get it your mouth. Sometimes I blow down the tip like when you blow in the top of a glass soda bottle for it to make a sound. Gravity is also your friend. Don't have the line of the battery go above your mouth or you may get juice in it. You could probably figure that out though.

I think you can handle that too. :D You'll figure out when you need to drip again either by timing or when the liquid changes flavor to something slightly less pleasant.

P.S. I drip exclusively and am always happy to spread the gospel of dripping whenever possible. The downsides to dripping are having to buy really delicious and high quality juice since you can taste it so well and mix flavors. I keep different flavor sets for my attys. For example, if I use a coffee flavor in one atty, I might also mix or use chocolate, raspberry, etc. flavors as well. I might have another atty for lighter fruit flavors.

Thanks for the great explanations. Now... what is the "bridge"?...and bridged or bridgeless?...and drip shields???

The bridge is inside the atomizer that wicks the liquid and a lot of drippers like it even better when it is removed. Here is a video showing the process:

Now you are getting into dripping preferences...

Bridgeless here for the most part, I have them on my Reo. For flavor testing Bridgeless. So yea I guess I take out the bridge all the time.
To answer your question a atomizer is a tube with a coil in it. You drip straight onto the coil. It tends to produce a warm vapor full of flavor. If your stationary on the couch then it's perfect but if your on the go forget it stick with a tank.

If you want to use the ego cone to direct drip you need this: eGo Drip Tips - Joye eGo Parts & Acc.
