For what it's worth, if you ever get any type of electronics wet, immediately power it off and do not touch it until it's dried out.

I knocked a guitar over this weekend, which knocked a beer over and spilled beer onto my friend's gaming rig. I immediately hit the I/O switch on the power supply and aimed a box fan at the PC. We let it dry out for an entire day, then cleaned off the residue with some isopropyl alcohol. Sure enough, it booted up just fine.

Maybe you should invest in a collar or lanyard.

Everyone swears by the rice...white rice, not brown- I hear it makes a big difference. What I also recommend is a lot of patience too. When my iPhone fell in a sink of water, I kept it in rice for over 72 hrs and kept trying to turn it on...poof. Ended up having to get a new one. Good luck!

Hands down the best thing to use is silica gel. You know the little packets that come in shoeboxes that say DO NOT EAT? Go to the Gun Safe section of a big box sporting goods store and you can buy cans of it. People throw the cans in gun safes to absorb moisture and prevent rust.

I think the rice or silica trick works before turning the device on. If it's turned on, it can short out....

Definately do not turn it on, and if something like a cell phone has a removeable battery, open the battery compartment and remove the battery for better ventilation. If the device is on when dropped, well, we can always hope.
