Drop size varies according to various factors like the dropper size and the liquid's viscosity - 20 to 25 drops seems an average but you should check it, if it needs accuracy for a mix. It's hard to get it perfect for a small amount of liquid, a large quantity is much easier. Small DIY mixes might involve the use of 3 different sizes/types of drop so they are hard to get precisely right: per 1ml, maybe 16 drops of base with a dropper, 3 drops of flavor 1 with a different dropper, 1 drop of flavor 2 from a small flavor dripper bottle, and 1 'microdrop' from a syringe of a strong flavor like menthol, for example. Impossible to get that precise, 10ml is much more accurate as you can measure the drops per ml for each of the various dropper types.

A small syringe is a good tool for measuring this as you can get the very last drop out of a small container after 20 drops from each type of dropper or dripper bottle. You need a couple of syringes and pipettes for DIY, plus a selection of empty bottles, 10ml dark glass with droppers and 5ml small plastic dripper bottles are good.

Thanks all.. speaking of syringes (and needles) I seem to be woefully ignorant. I have a syringe right here, but I really have no idea how to get stuff from the bottle into the syringe and then stuff from the syringe into a cartomizer. Is there a tip sheet posted here somewhere?

Take the lid off your ejuice bottle, push the side of the drip tip and it should pop off. Push the plunger of the syringe all the way in, put the tip of the needle in the bottle and pull up the plunger, the liquid should fill up the syringe. Poke the needle into the cartomizer hole and push the plunger slowly until the liquid starts to drip out the other end. If you have some left in the syringe, just put it back in the bottle and empty it. Wipe off your cartomizer and threads really well and you are good to go.

17 gauge is pretty much the smallest which will work with ejuice. I use a 15 for most things. Needle size increases inversely with gauge number, as in electrical wiring; bigger number = smaller needle bore.

What is the gauge of the needle you're using? Could this be the cause of your problems?

Yes, pipetting is more accurate than droppers are. Syringes are great for DIY mixing with accuracy.

Search the forum for syringe and pipette for lots of discussion.

No, you need a smaller number (bigger bore).
I use 14 gauge blunt tip syringes for vg from One Stop DIY Shop
15s work with pure VG, so 14 sure would. That's a great price they have there, a lot cheaper than what I paid ... although, I DO like my glass syringes, they cost a lot more. Good catch Lisa.
