I don't think it's a great idea to drop anything, but my personal experience is that a Provari will hold up through a drop better than many other mods out there.

Unfortunately, I'm prone to knocking mine around more than might be advisable. I've heard the sound "THWACK" more than I care to admit. The Provaris have all held up well through me (which is not the case for some other less fortunate ones).

If you need something broken, just send it on over to me. You think I'm kidding - I am not. We all excel at different things, and I've certainly found my "niche".

All that being said, don't go playing racquetball with the dern thing. And tell your buddy to "get a grip."

I have dropped mine several times with no issues. I have a habit of keeping my Provari on my lap while driving. I haven't come across a decent holder for when I'm in the car, and I've learned keeping it on the passenger seat allows it to roll away from me when making turns. Several times when getting out of the car, I have forgotten my Provari was on my lap and it has fallen onto the parking lot pavement.

My oldest Provari, a standard-size satin blue, has a couple of tiny nicks in the carokote paint. Since getting my Mini I usually tote that one around when I leave the house, and has not yet gotten any nicks in the paint despite suffering from my same forgetfulness. I worry more about breaking the glass in my IBTanked pyrex cartotanks that generally sit on the Provari's. Thus far none of them have suffered any cracks or breakage. Pretty tough tanks.

It's not indestructible, it's pretty darn close but if it's dropped just right you can damage it. I did one time I dropped it and the contact on the circuit board broke off. Of course the great thing about Provari is that I just sent it in to get repaired and had it back like new in a couple weeks.

That said I've dropped it dozens of times without any problems. In fact what usually happens is that I forget that I've got it in my lap while watching TV or something then stand up and plop. but it takes a licking and keeps on kicking.

Have you ever tried to drop your Provari on the ground (unintentionally)? Would it not stop working if someone dropped it on the asphalt or would it just get a few scratches?
My friend is...well, a bit clumsy so I wonder if I should stop borrowing him my Privari when we're outside. :D

I tried dropping it numerous times(intentionally) but the usgs got ...... and told me to stop. I was messing with their seismographs ;)
