Dry and sore throat

I just started vaping about a month ago, first with Blu, yuck, then a 510 with various liquids I didn't mush care for and then an Ego style with an Evod, and tried Ahlusion juices which of the several I tried I really liked.

I don't know what was in the Blu, it tasted like a burnt log and I immediately got a sore throat so basically that went in a drawer and I continued smoking but ordered a Joye 510 and some sample juices. All the juices I was using were 70pg/30vg. I ended up with a horrible sore throat for a couple days, and fever, that all went away for the most part and I did continue vaping a little and smoking as well. I never really got rid of the sore throat, it just was very minor. A little over a week ago after receiving my Ahlusion juices and really liking them, they didn't want to make me vomit due to simply not liking the taste, I ended up going off the analogs. The Ahlusion juices were mostly 50/50 or 70vg/30pg. Up until this weekend I was doing okay, very slight sore throat but more dry than anything. But, this weekend things got a lot worse, very dry throat and today so sore I couldn't take it and had to stop vaping. I did buy a pack of smokes and have had a few, but am wondering if it's an allergy thing or was it just the initial horrible dry hits from the Blu that I never recovered from possibly.

Being in Chicago it's very dry of course this time of year. I haven't experienced anything other than the dry and sore throat. No tongue problems or mouth sores, no hives, nothing. I'm really bummed as I was finally off the analogs for a whole 8 days and ready to be them for good.

But, I've read that the PG actually draws out moisture, not sure from what but if it's drawing out the moisture from my throat then I get it. Oh, and I've only been using tobacco based jiuces, NET actually, at least from Ahlusion, I don't know if the others were NET. I also just placed another order, 70vg/30pg, and went from 18% nic to 12% nic.

Possible allergy to PG?

I'm going to give it a few days off the vaping and hope the sore throat goes away before even thinking of vaping again. If it doesn't go away I'm obviously going to the doctor. I was a long time smoker, 35+ years at a pack to pack and a half.

Sorry you are having a problem over there. I went through some of the same and switched to as close to 100% VG as possible. The problems went away for me at that point. I ordered some 80VG/20PG at a much later date and magically the problems came back. For me it appears that PG is a no go. Time and experimenting will tell you what the problem is on your side.

Just a thought here, but it has been very cold this winter. Are you running a humidifier in your house? Getting a little moisture in the air especially while sleeping can help out with the sore dry throat.

Best of luck and stick with it....it is worth it!

I have a whole house humidifier and yes it's been very cold here, below zero many nights for several days at a time. Can only turn up the humidity so far without creating condensation problems in the house. But, no sore throat before vaping. I'm going to see what happens with the 70vg/30pg after the sore throat goes away. If it comes back I'm going to try 100% VG but finding flavors I like in that, yikes, have only found a few I can tolerate. I don't like smoking candy so vaping it isn't going to happen.

I feel your pain! I have been using Bobas Bounty from avejuice, not the imposter one. I also DIY and mix up my own VG based RY4. I like to mix Bobas with my RY4 and that is pretty much my all day vape. I like tobacco flavors mainly so I am pretty much stuck in my own happy little rut.

You might also try drinking more water. If you are like me though, you will drown before you take care of the sore throat.

PG gives me a killer sore throat. So raw it feels like strep and the reaction seems to get worse with each exposure. I've spent so much on juices I now can't use I even tried diluting them with plain VG. Nope. When I first started vaping I noticed this "intolerance" but it has grown to what I now consider an allergy with the smallest amount of PG causing days of discomfort. Now I'm very cautious where I buy my juice. I'm also getting into DIY so I have complete control over the ingredients being careful that the flavorings are also PG free. I'm sorry you're having trouble but it is fairly easy to determine if it is a PG intolerance. Your sore throat should be improved in a day of PG free vaping and gone in about three or four days depending on the severity. As others have suggested stay well hydrated as dryness can make it worse or add to the healing time.

These liquids are hygroscopic - they draw moisture out of your oral cavity and if you are lung inhaling, your throat as well. You do need to drink more liquids than you did before vaping to compensate.

It could be that or you may be one of the people who is sensitive to PG or has an allergic reaction to it. Try a 100 VG liquid to rule that in/out.

Seems like you guys might be Allergic to PG in the juices your using. Whenever anyone has soar throats, feels sick from vaping thats usually the first thing that comes to mind. Definitely try using some PG free juice and see how you like that. In the beginning stages of vaping your pulling the moisture out by vaping as said above so it's a good idea to keep hydrated and drink lotssss of water. Which honestly is just better for your health anyways :p

I would suggest maybe trying to vape 100% vg for a while & see how you do & then try 100% pg if the VG causes problems. What you experienced happened to me when I first started vaping too but it was the VG that was the problem. I don't have an "allergy" to it per se, but I can't vape juice with high quantities of VG or my throat will start to hurt A LOT (to the point it's hard to swallow).

If it were an allergy you would see some other symptoms besides the sore throat such as a rash, itching, swelling, etc. You would also notice those symptoms getting progressively worse with each intake of the problem substance.
