Dry Burn with 510 atty

It seems like every time I do a dry burn on my 510 attys, when I start vaping off them it tastes horrible. I'm assuming this is because the wick has burnt. Is this correct? Is this normal? Is this damaging the atty?

When my 510 attys start to act up I give them a dry burn and then after allowing them to cool put them under a hot running tap. Flush them out... blow the excess fluid out and then leave for around 24 hours to dry on a tissue. They seem good as new after that.

When you do the dry burn, you're doing just that, burning off crud that's on and around the atomizer coil and wick. The wick and coil themselves don't burn, but the crud does.

Like a fireplace, ash is left behind after the burn. That's what gives the bad taste. Rinsing the atomizer helps remove the ash and the bad taste.

Rinse, dry burn, rinse the burnt crud off, dry burn again to dry, first couple drags will be a little off but great after that.

In my experience anyways.
