I was cleaning my 901 today so I could switch to a difference juice. no matter how many times I using isopropyl alcohol to clean the atty, the old juice smell just would not go away. I also saw a lot of dark deposit on the heating coil.
I've heard people who use manual batteries tried to dry burn their atty to get the deposit off the heating coil, so I wanted to do the same.
What I did was clean the atty, then attach the battery. In stead of sucking at the atty side, I simply blow on the LED side to simulate the suction. I used a mirror to make sure the heating coil was glowing and burning off the deposit.
I don't know if anyone tried this, but it's a good to know that you can dry burn atty with an automatic battery.:p

That is a great ideal and haven't heard that one before.

That sounds like a great way to do it!

I went to the trouble of building a little circuit to plug into a wall wart and kick the voltage down to about 2 volts. I screw on a carto and forget about it for a couple of hours, knowing that it isn't going to overheat. Then I wash with iso alc. Sometimes the gunk is so thick it needs a second heating, but most don't.
