Hey all. I'm in a pinch right now. I'm on vacation with no B&M around me, and my coil is starting to taste horrible on my EVOD.
If I dry burn my EVOD heads, will I prolong the life?

Also, if I place a piece of cotton on top of the newly burned wick and coil, will that make my flavors taste better? I've always heard of the flavor wick, but never understood it/ tried it myself.

Yeah, It'll help to take it apart, rinse, and dry burn. It may already have flavor wicks, if they are shot you could replace with cotton. If the coil and wick is really dirty you might want to go through the process twice to make sure it's as clean as possible, otherwise risking it tastes bad even after the cleaning.Don't dry burn with cotton around the coil, It'll burn. There are plenty of vids for a visual on youtube. Cleaning does'nt start til around the 2:30 mark on this one.-> EVOD Cleaning and Burning The Atomizer for Better Vaping, Protank, MT3, - YouTube In this vid he rinses it then takes it aprt, I would take it apart then rinse, you want to rinse off the coil directly.

I fooled around with all kinds of cleaning regimens with my evods and t3s'. about 6 months ago I decided to
start rebuilding and I can rebuild a coil for pennies and it takes a lost less time than cleaning. I would highly recomend
that you consider rebuilding. And yes, if the coil is not shorted out or broken, you can replace the gunky wick inside the coil and the flavor wick too. (the wick inside the coil is a bit fiddly to remove)

I dry burn all my coils every weekend. It extends their life so I only have to replace them once a month or so. If the clearo uses a flavor wick (i.e. Protanks), I save old top coil wicks (i.e. IClear 30/16's) and cut the wicks off and use to replace flavor wicks. They are the perfect material for that. Hope this helps!

Dry burn is the only way to really clean the coil.

Use 2 pliers to pull the top spire off the top.

carefully remove the top wicks and you will see the coil underneath; be carefull not to pull on the wick that runns through the coil

fire the battery to heat the coil a few seconds at a time; you will get smoke from the burning stuff; it will stink and smell like a dry hit.

the wick might be black but as you burn stuff off, it will turn white; the wick will not burn.

eventually you will see the coil get dry and start to glow red; carefull not to let it get tooo hott or it will pop.

at this point the coil is clean, and wick should be white.

option: you can drip a couple drops of liquid on the coil now. unless you dont plan on using it soon.

take coil out and add some cotton wicks. on top

drip a few more drops of liquid on the wicks before putting back on the spire, unless you don't plan on using coil right away.

i dry each time and every time. absolutely no reason not too. you don't want what was burned and left on your coil leeching into your next tank.

if you burn something on your stove/range, you'd clean that off as well wouldn't you?

it will no only prolong the life of your coil, but insure your subsequent vapes are that much more "authentic"
