I cleaned four atomizers for the first time last night and they're all working fine but wonder if I dry burned them or not. Here's what I did:

First soaked them in hot tap water and rinsed with new water several time. Then soaked them in vodka for 30 minutes and rinsed again with hot water. I did "force rinse" with a baster a couple of time. Then I dried and blew in them. Placed them back on the batteries with the cone and drew on them without a tank on until I got vapor and it stopped. Did that last step dry burn them? Thanks.

I can't figure out how people are dry burning them with an ego.

I have a eGo C-Cone so I just pop the atomizers in the cone put it on my Vamo and do a few dry burns, but any ego battery will do.

you need to remove the spike from the atomizer base.Put the atomizer with no spike in the eroll and attach the cone. Stand in front of a mirror and blow on the LED end to turn the eroll on.Look in the mirror and blow until the whole coil glows red. Then rinse out the atomizer to remove the debris you loosened. Put the atomizer back together and let it dry. That is a dry burn.

I take it one step farther, I use a tiny flat head screwdriver and very gently rub/scrape the coil. I get 10 times more debris off that way than with a dry burn. With the spike off you should clean the wick as well. I have used a lighter to torch it clean or in alcohol rub the wick and blot with a paper towel. The wick should be almost white again when you are done.

Are they really hard to take apart the first time or is there some trick to it that I may be missing? I've seen videos with people using little pliers to pull them apart or a small screwdriver or tweezers to pry them apart. I've tried both methods and can't get mine apart. Any advice?

I prefer the small screwdriver. Just insert into the base on the side of the spike and pry up a little then move to other side and repeat. If you damage the sides of the atty it does not cause any harm. You can also try turning the screwdriver when it is in the slot. Its not a one pry action. You have to work it out little by little.

With pliers I found I would mark the spike up with tooth marks from the pliers, eventually causing a leak.

If you find putting the spike back in difficult use an empty tank.(preferably a bad tank) Put the spike in the tank then hold onto the tank to insert it into the base.
