Dry Cotton Burn Test

I've seen tutorials on how they do the dry cotton burn test. But i failed to replicate it. Using IPV4S by the way.
I press the + and - button to set the resistance.
Put a fresh cotton
Fire the mod.
Burnt cotton....

When i put some juice on it
Fire until the no liquid indicator comes up
Change new cotton
Dry fire
Only then it works.

So how do you do the dry cotton burn test? Hope you guys can enlighten me.

Usually my IPV4s will detect no liquid on fresh coil and cause slight charring to cotton only.

Are you using correct wire?

I'm using UD 26 gauge ni200. No idea if this is a good brand tho ....

UD is pretty good, also first do the lock stabilise test first. As you should know by now nickel is a finicky wire, just keep locking the resistance at rest and see if it fluctuates first after wicking.

Also are you doing evenly spaced coil?

I did the spaced coil on my second try vapes ok but still failed the cotton burn test

Wait lock stablization? How do i do that?

I usually just lock the resistance repeatedly after wicking to ensure its stable, if it fluctuates check post screw if leads are tighten properly.

Also it would help to list the settings you set as well and setup.

Thanks for the help. I will try to rebuild it soon. But i did the dry cotton burn test correctly right?

Room temperature, spaced coil ard 6 wraps with 3mm diameter space.
Set and lock resistance.
Set Ni wire.
Set temperature (380 F)
Put in cotton
Fire ?

dry cotton test looks correct but at 380 its really close to dry cotton burning temp by right, although I wouldn't really bother with dry cotton test but adjust the temp while vaping to adjust to taste and dry hit region.

Also the legs must be tight and preferably straight. (yes thats how .... nickel is lol)

No problem bear in mind every single time you recoil you need to recalibrate the temp to your coil and juice lol.

Joules wise just leave it as a static 20/30 should be fine (should save quite a bit of battery juice to slowly ramp up temp rather than using higher joules)
