I just got my sub ohm mini Tuesday - LOVED it the first day... 2nd day got a nasty dry hit, then it seemed to want to dry hit often after that so I changed the coil. Same problem with the new coil.

I'm using 80vg at 20w, same as OP, so maybe there's something to this? I'm also known to sometimes chain vape, but at least 2 of these dry hits were right after not touching it for a good while.

I wasn't crazy about my Atlantis but it NEVER gave me a dry hit so I'm back to using it until I figure out what's up and how to fix it. The kanger sure has better flavor, at least when it's not dry hitting, and was easier to fill, and held more juice. But none of that makes up for dry hits.

I've been saying this since the original subtank came out but no one believes me :). I've been through about 3 five packs of coils now and have totally given up. I vape 80/20 or higher and all I have are problems with the OCCs. Granted I'm using the massive original, I dont have a mini but that wouldn't affect the heads. I saturate the crap out of each coil, get a decent vape at 18-20 watts for a while, then I bump it up to 23-25 to extract some flavor (flavor is non-existent at low wattage) and it's all dry hits. Once I get one dry hit it seem like the coil is completely ruined. It's been one of the most frustrating things on my vaping journey so far. I just bought a Herakles today and it's been amazing. Fingers crossed..

I've never even heard of a Harakles (but I'm pretty new to all this) - Please let me know how it works out! My favorite premium juice is 80vg, and the atlantis is handling it just fine, even when I chain vape, but I'd just like to get more flavor out of it (not to mention the atlantis is a pain to fill and I also worry a bit about the mystery metal they use although I have a source now for some OCCs instead of the ceramics)

I've read a bit in some threads about using a needle and poking into the open holes where the cotton is exposed. This seems to separate the threads of the cotton a bit to let the juice flow better. I haven't tried it on mine since I've been using the RBA section almost exclusively since I got mine two months ago (still using the original, pre-installed .5 ohm coil).

I have the same problem with mine, I have two sub tank minis both using the rebuild able section one with Heisenberg at 50/50 which is fine and the other snake oil at80% vg and am constantly changing the wick due to dry hits, in the end I tried a lemo 2 with the standard coil and fresh organic ... cotton, and two weeks in not one dry hit, the flavour and vapour are no different to when I first got it, have taken it up to 45 watts but sweet spot is 22-25 watts,

Anything over 15 watts on the mini results in dry hits.

(All with 0.5-0.8 ohm coils)

My out of the box OCC coils have never given me a dry hit, just gotta watch the juice level to make sure its not below the cotton. The rebuildable deck on the other hand is a pain to wick. I can't really use the rebuildable and imagine I'd have to drill holes for it to wick fast enough.

I just got a Herakles yesterday and it wicks like a champ. I still like my Kanger, but I can get a higher wattage vape from the Herakles. YMMV
