Dry hits happen a lot for me when cotton is too much such that it covers the holes fully(was told to allow a tiny gap). Also sometimes when that happens and I feel lazy, I just drip one drop of juice on the current coil and I'm good to go for at least another day.

alright, im now trying to put lesser cotton on it, hopefully it can fix the problem

To avoid dry hits...

1) Make sure it's a clean connection with no hot spots, glowing inside out.

2) Wick it right. Too thin and you will flood your chambers. Too thick and the juice can't wick fast enough and you will get dry hits.

3) watch YouTube videos on the various methods of wicking. Surely someone has found a good method to wick your tank.

4) if your coil is kanthal or SS, you can dry burn any gunk off and then rewick. Excess gunking of coil can lead to a burnt taste.

Good luck!
