Sheesh...
I don't drip and I have had only (2) SLB batteries out of about (12) SLB batteries in circulation between the wife and I go bad and only after a couple of weeks of use... (1) of which could have been shorted by me while using a voltage meter on it. (1) was definately a stuck switch but my wife looked like she was 'drawing' too hard maybe and probably 'damaged' the switch (errr, and No, I am not bragging here). All the rest are going 2 to 4 weeks now, I think.
Anyways, another common issue (if it lights but does not power the atty) means the center pole is not making contact (which is the positive terminal). You can pull or rather wiggle the center contact of the battery and/or atty out a bit by carefully using the 'end' of a paperclip in the center hole.
Sheesh, that was tough to say with out getting offensive (thinks to self is this even wise to post), Haha... (so please, spare me all the "your wife can suck a switch through an atty hole" comments

) Damn, now I went and said it after making it this far, oh well

LOL...
