smok, I find it depends on how far the bridge in the atty comes up. On the one I have now, I push the filling back a little and it seems to work great. I've heard some mention of using a needle to burn a small hole into the top of the filling (to go around the atty). For me, I just push it back a little and all is good. No burning taste and my carts seem to last a good amount of time.

Thanks Velvet! My nasty taste has gone away for the moment, maybe it has to go thru growing pains before it becomes a real e-man;)

Again thanks 4 all your support:)

Temperamental as h#@-.!

aww, I really like mine, it's only been a little over a week, but it's done me good so far .. goes to show what crazy different experiences people have I guess..... I also have nothing to compare it to... I don't taste the burnt taste ever.. huh it's weird.

STILLSMOKE9,

Not trying to be contrary but, my 901 experience is just the opposite!

I'm new at this, but don't think there is yet an ecig that you can pick up and get a good, consistent hit each and every time.

You want to see tempermental?, get yourself a 510/Yeti/DuraC. (no flame intended to 510 lovers, but I do actually have a love/hate relationship with my Yeti !)

I started e-smoking (with a 901 kit) around April 1 and found it wasn't quite enough to get me through a typical Saturday night. Monday thru Friday, on any given workday/evening, it was fine. But sitting around a BBQ grill on Sat. with (smoker) friends, beer in-hand, the 901 just wasn't "quite enough".

I bought a Yeti and for the first few days it was great... then it started getting finicky... went back to the 901 a few days, picked the Yeti back up, fine, then finicky again... up/down, up/down for several weeks.

I finally decided to just go back to the 901 as my main, use the 510 occasionally or for backup... just received shipment of 9 901 atomizers and 30 carts. I'm vaping on one now, tastes great, good hits...

Please, just don't give up and pick up analogs again (like I did for a while).

Good Luck,
uman

I really like my 901's. I have an M201 penstyle, and a Joye 510, but my e-cig of choice is the 901. I do have to top-off quite frequently. I don't get a burnt taste, but the flavor seems to disappear pretty fast. Maybe it's because I use menthol, and if I don't get that cool blast with each hit I'm disappointed. So even though the cart isn't really "dry" I have to keep adding fresh juice.

Oh when it is working it is great. Unfortunately I never know when that is going to occur.

I cannot trust it to go with it alone:(

Could be the type carts i use? Are your carts the ones that are shaped like a 3/4 moon?

Back when I smoked M'bro Mediums (packaday), I always smoked more while socializing/drinking cold beer... usually with friends, some of whom are smokers.

The 901 is fine for "normal" weekday use, and when I have time to fiddle with it, but just doesn't quite have enough "kick", and consistency, to satisfy the uptick in my "urges" on those occasions. I fell off the wagon and bummed several cigs two Saturdays in a row. So, based on glowing reviews, I decided to try the 510... well, guess what, I found it's finicky and inconsistent too!!

This past was my worst weekend, I actually bought a pack of M'bros for a canoe trip!!! 8-o

The "good" news?... didn't actually smoke but about 1/3 of it, used the 901s the rest of the time... left the 510 at home.

I use the black flat-tipped carts. I have some round ones, but I don't like them much. As someone has already mentioned, the hits from e-cigs aren't real consistent, at least with this particular model. But if you think about it, the taste and feel of real cigarettes isn't 100% consistent either. I made my own cigs for 8 years, so I was used to inconsistency, lol. Sometimes I had them packed too loose, or too tight, etc. I just know that I don't want to go back to them, and I don't feel like I'll need to. As long as I can still get my e-cig parts and juice.

I've been vaping for almost 2 weeks, with the help of my 901. Here are my thoughts thus far, when I first put a prefilled cart fresh out of my E cig Kit to use, its like "hell yea! I like this! :D" ....

...so for the first few days i loved it, then i ran low on juice, got my juice and started refilling the carts, some times the filling got to where it would move etc, especially after a few washes.. had to fiddle with it a bit, to get the right hit, I then tried the straw mod to make filling easier (VS paper clip) and the draw is nicer too, I fiddled around with coffee filters, etc, but cant get it work as good as the polyfill, so it takes some tinkering etc. I found I have to clean the atomizer daily, I use canned air.. but after the 1st week and a half my batteries started to die quicker and quicker, so i ordered another kit and 2 extra atomizers, just in case the atty's die..

So... It's best to just treat the Parts as eventual disposables, and get the hang of filling or stick with prefilled carts IMO. I also have a USB pass through on the way, and plan on ordering a PCC for my 901, so i can vape all day at work, and still have a charging case to take with me on the go.

But overall for this to work, you have to WANT to stop smoking, and accept all the work that comes with E-Cigs... My 2 cents.

Best thing you could do is get a manual usb passthrough for the 901. Autobatteries suck!! When I hook it to the passthrough, it's as good as my 510's. I think it's just a bit easier to suck through the 901 than the 510 too. Probably why the screwdriver uses 901 parts. The only downside to the 901 is we only have the autobattery option.

As far as cleaning and reduced performance. It happens to all of them.

Just found out dripping a little hydrogen perioxide onto the atty then heating it up to break up the resin on the coil works pretty good. *Must have manual battery for this to work well* And you will still need to wash it out with water too.

Thought my mom killed one of her atty's on her 510 and I took it and did the perioxide treatment. Vapping good as new now. Thought it was a gonner for sure.

I have the rectangle carts, but the new kit i got today comes with the moon shaped ones, we will see how i like these, the moon shaped ones look to have a better design though, we will see.

Good News!...

the good ol' 901 is getting a facelift.

Click here, Vapor Country now has manual 901 (and 801) batteries!

-and-

Click here, Ruyan Direct (among others) now has a manual 901 USB passthru!

What I can't figure out tho, is:

1) Why neither is sealed?

2) Why the passthru is manual, yet has a 5 second cut-off?

and BTW, thanks for the hydrogen peroxide tip... I'll try that on my recently "dead" 901 atty.

The manual 901 passthrough I have. Has a 10 second cutoff. Damn, I shouldn't have tested that with 36mg cola in it. LOL

Plenty of time, to heat it up and get to work.

Have an autobatt that is 5 seconds and it's rediculous. Really pee's me off.

Kingston battery pack with manual 901 passthrough is kickin chicken.
Walking around with that setup right now. Plenty of battery life hehe.
