OK, with the battery you described, you should have been able to get something. It doesn't sound ideal, though. Look at the "Rated Output". This pack puts out 5 volts at 500mA. The 5 volts is just fine, even a bit high for some people's liking, but you really want something that will output at least 1000mA. These atomizers can draw well over 1 Amp. Most "off the shelf" batteries that come with our e-cigs are between 3.6 volts and 4.2 volts, and I believe they only have a capacity of about 130 mAh. The other thing to keep in mind is that mAh is not the same as mA.

Milliampere-hour (mAh): A battery capacity or rating. A battery that provides a current of 1000mAh for one hour is rated at 1000mAh (or 1 Ah).

Milliamp (mA): Is the unit of measure of current. It is equal to 0.001 amperes.

I personally would suggest to try to get as close as you can to 4.2 volts and about 1000mA/1 Amp, maybe even 1500mA/1.5 Amps. Then, the higher the capacity (mAh), the better. If you are plugging in with a wall transformer, you would try to do the same. If you are using USB, then you will be around 5.0 - 5.2 volts and I think it is either 500mA or 1000mA. In any case, USB works pretty well. The only issue I have had with a USB connection is when I tried to connect it to a wall USB charger. For some reason, every one I tried would not work. However, the one I have that plugs into my car-lighter socket works just fine, and any USB port on my PC or laptop or hub works fine. Still haven't been able to figure that out.

My next mod is going to use the 18650 battery. It is 3.7 volts and rated at 2400mAh. It should last me all day at work, maybe even more.

I have a "magnum" mod i made that uses 2 CR2 batteries. Each one is 3.0 volts and 800mAh. Together they give me 6 volts and 800mAh. I did try one CR2 by itself, but it really isn't enough to do the job. Kindof like an almost dead battery that came with your e-cig.

OK, I think I have rambled on enough. I hope some of this may help. There is a ton of stuff you can do, you just have to either get ideas from the Modders Forum, or come up with some yourself. I have had a lot of fun making all of my mods.

Crap, sorry, misread some of the battery stuff you said. The battery you are looking at may give you a descent vape, but I would suggest trying to get something closer to 1000mA out, or just 5 volts out, with no current cap, just capacity. That one is max at 500mA. You just have to have a device to plug into it, unless you mod it with a switch, and a battery connection, then you could use it as a box-type mod. Might be a bit big, though.

I can't say about the battery you had from Radio Shack, without the actual type or specs.

As far as the lighter adapter you bought, I think I bought the same one. Got mine from some dude in Hong Kong. It didn't work either. Sent him a message, and he sent another one that did work. Is there a LED on yours? If so, does it go on when you plug it into the lighter socket?

I bought the Lenmar PowerPort™ PPU2100B from Radio shack (reg. 39.99 - on sale for 19.99) 2100 mAh - 5 volts, but I just found out that the output current is only 700mA! Thanks for explaining the difference between mAh and mA - helps me to understand a lot. Now I know why the Lenmar did not work!

Now I need to shop for a good deal on a good portable battery to use with my USB passthrough. I have to make more posts before I will be allowed to paste links (grrrr), but there have been two battery packs recommended in this thread, both on eBay:

USB 2.0 Battery Pack & Charger for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G
and.......
APC Power Pack

I am leaning toward the APC because I SAW it work in the video, and because of the brand name.

I found a little more info on the APC here:

(sorry, I can't make it a link, so you will need to Google it)

- The led light works on my car cigarette adapter, but won't it vape.

If you are talking about this adapter

HDMI cables, DVI cables, HDMI wall plates and HDMI switches.

Don't waste your money. It didnt work. We did try using another thing that ran on a USB and it worked, but not our ecigs. So I have another piece of equipment sitting wasting away in my drawer. Eh, sooner or later my son will find something to do with it.

No - we were talking about a car cigarette adapter.

As far as the wall adapter, I just tried out the one that came with my 60gb Ipod, but it did not work. I tried what I already had. Thanks for the tip - I will avoid that one in the link. I have heard some people (in another thread) say that their iPhone wall charger works with their USB passthrough. They said that Apple AC-USB are all 1000ma.
