dse801 throat hit

I got a dse 801 kit from East Mall. I fully charged the unit and started vaping. I am terribly disappointed! There is good vapour production - but ZERO throat hit. Also, I have noticed a small crackle noise from the atty when i inhale (its an auto) I eve tried dripping... is that normal? Are all 801s weak in throat hit? or am I doing something wrong? Is it my atty? Any feedback would be helpful at this point..
