ddy611,

Well I used a drill press to bore mine out which is the proper and most accurate way to do it, but you could essentially use any type of drill with the right sized bit. A dremel would probably be your best bet since you don't know how to use a drill press. I have a dremel too but I didn't think it would work lol good job on seven's part tho. just be careful not to get into the threads. there are many different rcr123 battery sizes, the ones I have are 16mm rechargeables, I'm not 100% sure but the 16mm is probably the widest you will get without running into your threads.

good luck dd

Duuuude, please explain how to do this!! I have a 905 and RCR123s but they don't fit, I want 6v on my 905!!

How do I "bore out"????????

I'm not sure if you learned yet, but using a dremel or a drill press with the right sized bit would work.

With a dremel (small hand held drill with high RPM) just use a circular grinding bit to shave off the metal.

A drill press or drill you would need a 16mm or smaller bit to grind out a bigger hole

Might be a good idea to hold off on running these at 6v until the manufacturer sorts out a problem where the units start and run by themselves without lighting up and make the atty quite hot running 3.7v.

If you search on "zombie dance" you will see the discussions.

Its happened to mine (version 2) twice in the last two days. The last time, it melted the edge of the cart.

Its possible that the microprocessor which is the likely culprit doesn't kick in when run at 6 volts but I wouldn't want to bet my life on it or worse, deal with my wife if I burned her favorite table.

I posed this very question over in the "Immolation" thread that dealt with said problem: Does running the 905 at 6v have any effect on the unit turning on by itself?

I have yet to hear of any problems at 6v, making me consider boring mine out and using it at 6v...still on the fence, though.

So I am wondering if the 6v batts would fit a Screwdriver I use lir 123a or tr 16340 both 3.7 and 1000 mAh rechargables. Anyone try this on a Screwdriver?
Aren't they both the same flashlight?

The short answer: no, they are definitely not made from flashlights, at least anymore. The 905 is purpose-built, from the get-go; The SD was originally a modded flashlight, but that changed as soon as it went into mass-production.

I have heard of many people using the SD at 6v also, and as it is a mechanical device and has no circuitry I would wager that it is simpler to mod, if modding is even necessary...I would check the modders' forum or search for "6v screwdriver".

I have not had any issues with it turning on itself.

Yes well that flashlight runs at 3.0v and clearly states that 3.7v shouldn't be used. I'm just wondering if the 6v batts being put into the 905's are the same size as what I'm using in my screwdrivers. They are 16mm long and about 8mm across. But whatever, I have two Janty Stick V2's coming to add to the garage.

8mm across? I'm not that experienced with battery sizes for mods, but that is smaller than the one used in the 905, a single 14500(14mm by 50mm).

Try a search...hope you can find an answer.

For 6v in the 905, its CR2s, isn't it? I believe they're 16mm in diameter rather than length.

re-measured my Sd's batts, they are 16X32 mm. It would seem the batt compartment on the 905's are longer but narrower than the SD. I have two 905's coming for someone I work with. I guess I'll check with those.

Sorry, never seen a real SD. Trying to insert a pair of CR2s in my 905, they fit in the upper compartment and with a little careful milling in the lower.

Kempton; Every time I see your avatar, I look to see what island you're on and then see 'Canada'. Where's the jpg taken? Did you really build a Balinese back yard in Toronto? If so, I'd like to see a winter pic:)

I know they used a drill press to bore out the bottom part of the 905. They didn't have to bore out much to make the CR2 fit. I would imagine you could probably use a dremmel to do it.

That is the salt water pool at "The Beach Place" on Siesta Key, a barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico just off Sarasota. We head there every May for a few weeks. If I had that in my yard (I'm 210 miles north of Toronto) there would be Hockey nets and a rink on it in the winter....
