EDIT: Moving thread discussion over the modding thread, mods feel free to lock/delete/whatever

Well I joined up to post in the modders forum, but I guess I'll start here!

I've had continuing bad luck with the 905 circuitry. My first one I accidentally ripped wires on it, so that was a physical break, but the next two have both exhibited the same behavior of the button/timer/whatever that circuit board is basically dying. Light will go on and stay on, but no power is pushed to the atomizer

I have 4 rechargeable batteries, I have the charger, and I now have 2 complete (but not working) battery housings. I figure there has to be SOME way, and I would assume some easy way, of salvaging these things with another circuitry piece.

I just don't know the best way to do it given the batteries that I'm using.

Anyone have any advice? Please?!

I was afraid of that, no modders visit here probably huh

Or ones like me who are not familiar with your model...

Say hi to a few folks and spread some of your knowledge around. You only need 3 more posts (and time for the software to recognize the number) before you can post in the Modder's forum.

I had a dse 905 I gave to a buddy as a gift. It worked fine for a month or so, then it would just freakin come on by itself and destroy an atty. I'm no moder, but I would think you may want to look at the simplicity of the Screw driver MKII. The top of the battery is always in contact with the spring. So you always have positive contact. The Bottom is left untouched until the bottom button is pressed, making a negative contact and turning the device on. The shape of the two devices is almost the same. You might be able to do something of this nature, but you'll probably need to remove the circuit board in top of the dse 905. Keep in mind please that I'm no expert by far lol. I've just had the two devices in my hands at the same time and noticed they were quite similar in shape and size. Maybe try to knock out your first 5 post and go to a thread where the moders hang out. Good luck, and if you do build something cool out of it post a pic.

I'm workin on it lol

the DSE905 is basically a manufactured screwdriver mod

http://www.dse-ecigarette.com/images/DSE905SK/DSE905SK.jpg

It's using the AA 900mah rechargable

There's very little to the thing inside, the main malfunction junction is a combo push switch/regulator/timer

I know from watching the early mods like the flashlight ones that there's SOME sort of circuitry that is needed to be put in if you're making your own, and what I was thinking is I could rip the defunct piece out of them and put another piece of circuit in there

i just don't know what to put in there

I wouldn't put anything in there. Rip it out, and make it mechanical. Grim Green did a review on the 905, at the end of the review, the top fell off(lighted part). Under that is a circuit board. My guess is that if you tore all that out, and got a 510 or 901 connector rigged to the top and a spring from a flash light you could use the existing on off button area at the bottom to make it operate like a screwdriver. Maybe, Idk lol. Just throwing things out there.

I've totally taken my first one apart, and you are correct. That top part is the light ring and the connector, that's pretty much it.

The push switch is what is throwing me for a loop, because it's a black box that contains on/off switch AND has the little timer in it that I assume prevents overheating the atomizer

I just am not sure if there's anything else in there important!

Total easiest thing to do would be what you're saying: rip that black box out and just make that a mechanical on/off switch.

I just don't have a dozen atomizers laying around to test and burn up ;-) If there's nothing more than a switch and a timer in there, I'm golden. If there's some sort of low-level resister or fuse or regulator in there, I could be shooting myself in the foot.

I had to look up the GGTS...I don't think I want to drop that kind of cash after all I've spent so far.

Looks pretty sweet though

For the fuse, I think...THINK being the operative word...I can time how long to pull and not overheat. In the back of my mind, also, I'm thinking an atomizer is cheaper than what I've been paying to replace these stupid bodies every 2 months.

Back in the day when the 905 came out I purchased one and the top broke off of mine in a matter of 7 days. I personally wouldn't even bother fixing it and would just look for a better mod. There are many out there. I bought a GLV 2 a few months ago and have been using that lately. My go to mod that I use the most is my precise 16 from super T. The GGTS is a great mod but super expensive. If you want variable voltage you can't go wrong with the little sister mod. It's a great little mod for a great price. Good Luck in your search :).
