I ordered a five pack of these things to try out. Dual 3.0 ohm coils for a combined 1.5 ohm result without burning the filler - at least thats what was advertised.

I've used 4. Two worked great, and two had a burning taste right off the bat. Same juice in all four. Same voltage. Same soak time. Actually, one of them I didn't let soak for more than a few minutes, but that was one of the ones that worked great...until it shorted after a few days.

I've never had a KR short before, don't know if that was an anomaly or what. But anyway, what I'm really wondering about is the burning flavor - it happened within a few draws on two of the four I've used. And it tastes harsh like a dry 510, not like that yuck toasted flavor I get if I over-vape a KR and burn the filler.

Any input? The saddest part is I'm using eJoker's in them...which isn't exactly always readily available for purchase, so it sucks to have 40+ drops of it in a bad carto.

What voltage? You said all the same, but didn't mention what it is.

I've been using the dual coils for a few weeks now. At 6.0v, I can scorch juice with them (but not that burnt filler torched carto taste) if I take longer than a one second draw. At 5.0v, I can scorch juice with about a 4 or so second draw. At 3.7, I can not scorch the juice even chainvaping long 5 to 7 second draws one after another after another.

4.5 to 4.7 volts on a Buzz.

With the two out of four that have the problem, its instantaneous on a brand new carto. I'll get maybe a brief puff of flavor and then the weird burn/harsh taste right away. If I let it sit for awhile just hoping it works itself out, next draw is the same thing - a hint of the juice for half a second and then the burn/harsh taste.

Anybody else having this happen?

I have been using the dual coils for a month now and have used I think 3 of them out of the pack of 5 I got.
I use them at 4v-6v and have had no inconsistencies in them at all. All have never burnt at any time.
I am still using my first one that is about a month old and hits just as it did the day I started using it.
Maybe you got a bum pack of them or something. I really like them at 6v, I am using LIFEPO4 batts to get 6v.
They have done very well at 4.5-5v also..
All I can think is you got some defects or I got lucky.. lol

One of mine tasted that way. I was certain that it did not soak evenly, so I put the condom back on the bottom, and put more juice in there until I know there was more juice than it needed, and let it soak for a half hour. That scorched taste was still there, but less, so I shook it like a thermometer, added a bit more juice and let it sit again. After that, I was able to vape through it. I think the stuffing was packed a little tight or something. I only had 1 of 10 that did that, but eventually it worked fine. I really like these at 3.7 volts.

Thanks for the replies. I love cartos for how clean they are and how seldom you have to drip. I don't like the large juice investment to get them going, but its worth it to not have the leaks and be able to pocket my PV, so I always like to try the new options. I like the idea of dual coils that (I guess) don't get as hot as a single LR coil but provide that hot LR vapor, so its good to hear that they tend to work - especially at higher voltage.

The dual coils drain my batteries pretty fast, but I'll try the Godzilla method and try to burn through it. Hopefully that works and doesn't jack up the taste. Anyway, its just good to know that a) its not just me and b) they tend to work and maybe its just a bum pack. That will help me convince myself to reorder more of them.

It's very very very important you fill them up right the first go. They hold almost 1.5ml some people are getting a bit more then that in them. I condom fill 1ml from teh bottom, then drip fill the top. Let it sit for a few minutes to soak in to the actual coils, then go for it. It seems the first fill is always the most sensative, after that, its easy. Once a carto dry burns like that, its almost always worthless from that point on. Trick is to be patient, just that first fill.

Yeah, funny thing is, I went ahead and pulled the bad ones apart and they were cleaner clean. Not a burn mark on them. Anyway, after using them for awhile, they really kill my batteries and make my PV hot and I don't find the performance really any better than a single coil. Hmmm....maybe they need high drain batteries.

I heard the recommendation is a device that's 3.7v or higher, or an eGo/Riva and higher. Not a regular cigarette looking battery, I could be wrong, but I heard they're bad on the small batteries under 350mAH? Someone who knows more can tell me if I'm wrong or not.

They can be used on any Batt Ghetto, just like an LR Atty can be, people have been saying this for a long time now and it's just not so to a point, will it wear out your Batt quicker ? Absolutely it will it is posing more stress on the Batt. I have been running (5) 180mAh or less Mini 901's Batts on a LR 1.5 ohm Atty's now for 6 months, the charge doesn't last me to long, about an hour or so each, however I keep 5 of them in a little PC kit and I sometime enjoy using a set up the size of a reg cigarette it's just a good old feel, ( old times hahah ) but they have been going now for 6 months, there only about $7-9 bucks each right from China. Bottom line is it can be done, how long my $7-$9 investment will last ? I don't know but I'm not expecting a real long time, it's just that good old time feel I like and I'm willing to pay for it because I like it :smokie::)

I bought a pack of 5. vaping at 3.7 with a provari. The first one barely worked at all before I started getting e1 errors on my provari. A few minutes later it was done. It also had a burning flavor. The second one I tried worked just fine but also had a burning flavor. 3, 4, and 5 have all worked like a charm. I used the condom method and then top off from driping the sides on the top on all of them. I really don't think it's a "how you fill it problem", it's a QC problem. With that said, I ordered 20 more of them. The ones that work, work so well, it's worth it to me to have a few bad ones out of a box. I'm hoping the failure rate is not as high on all my boxes though. I'm sure it's something they they will work out with time.

Thats exactly how I feel about cartos in general. 1 or 2 out of 5 suffer from sub-par performance, whether immediate failure or getting burned filler to easily. But since most work very well, they're cleaner than regular atties (pocketable), and they hold more juice, and come in packs of five anyway, it's worth it.

I only vape tobacco flavors in my 510 cart, where I think the burnt flavor enhances the effect. I currently use an eGo-T to vape other types of juice. But I've yet to draw a conclusion about the eGo-T. If you are looking for something small to vape non-cig flavors once in a while, you might want to try an RN4081.

it's aggravating to fill a new carto with good juice and then not be able to vape it. but you can always do the reverse-taryn-spin thing to get most of the juice back out of the dead one.

I assume you are talking about the old method of putting filler material in a 10cc syringe without a needle then squeezing the juice back in a bottle for re-use. I do the same with my cartos--just have to break apart the cartos.

Put a condom on the end of the carto about 1/4 of the way and then clip a string to the carto and spin it around in an arch forcing the juice into the condom. I also have a centrifuge I use to do the same thing prior to cleaning.
