Dual coil anything on the LT?

I have a stash of 3.0 ohm Boge cartos that work great on the LT, all the way up to 6 volts. I am gradually using up all the other cartos I have, including some 1.5 ohm dual coils, and with a little experimentation have been able to find a satisfying voltage setting for all of them on the LT. For my taste, at least, the 2.5 watt limit hasn't been a problem.

I finally figured out why I was having such a hard time trying to get a carto to work on my LT. I'd used a carto tank for 3 months without issue and then all of a sudden I was going through 5-6 cartos a day and none of them were producing anything close to a satisfying vape. Turns out that I've got a bunch of DC 3.0 ohm tanks in my stash. When I dug back through my stash and found some 3.0 SC, I put one of those on and I was back in business. So I don't know if a 3.0 ohm DC won't work at all on a LT, but it doesn't work for me personally.

I use a single coil 2.0 smoketek carto in my tanks and i get more vapor than i can take with my LT at 4.5 volts. I have tried all sorts of different dcc from dual 3,2 single 3.0 the scc 2.0 does it for me. I have found that i have to change them about every 2 weeks to keep the best taste.
I don't understand this. I have to chance my carto every 2 days. It tastes bad after 2 days,. Are you using 1 cartomizer a whole 2 weeks?

While i was using DCC Tanks on my Splash i didnt have to change it for about 2 weeks but i always kept mine wet. and really i guess the taste never really changed it was the draw after that long of time that got me. i felt like i was trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

You can take a needle, or paper clip and run it through the connector end to break up the "hardened juice". This will get your draw back to normal, and give you more life out of your carto.

yup it will help for a bit, but once it starts you are just prolonging the death, you might extend the life a few more days or so, but it will clog again and at some point no matter what you stick through there it will not clear it out well enough to vape on.

plus be careful you can hit the coil or wires if you dont go in centered and straight.

You are absolutely correct, that once it starts, it's only a matter of time, but I manage to extend the life of my cartos upwards of a week. I tend to have greater success with the XL's over the Boges, though.

i posted a thread in the variable voltage forum about how the amperage and voltage works in relation to single and dual coil atty/carto setups, it's called "volts/amps/ohms explained in detail on single and dual coil atty/cartos"

check it out for more info/clarification on how this all works

i am an electronic engineering technologist btw, so i do have a pretty good background on this stuff...

@krprice84 - I remember reading that and going hazy after the first couple paragraphs. I'm not one to read and understand things of a mathematical nature so it's either "show me" or it ends up in a tangled web. It's like trying to read about linux and not looking at the OS to understand what you're reading.

That being said, it was on that sub-forum that I found a link that gave a review that broke down the volts, amps and ohms in a way I could moderately understand... at least as far as this device works. I have a VZ VV mod which from what I understand is an offbrand of the original Lavatube but the review was understandable enough for me to know I wanted to get it - that same night.

My biggest feat is that I HAVE to use 100% vg, so even though I get plenty of taste (and mass vapor), it's never been as full as some of the others experience BUT, I have definitely tasted more being able to vape at higher voltages. I've really fallen for the dual coils b/c they vape the vg MUCH better but at a higher voltage. (Ex - had a 1.5 dc and used it on my kgo and hated it... thought s/thing was wrong. Tried it on my VZ VV at around 4+ volts and LOVED it! I actually got to taste my cucumber melon for the first time!!!)

I've gotten more used to the 2.0 boge cartos since then so I suppose I'm not so hooked on dc's, but I still think they vape straight vg better - if they can wick properly. And since I'm still not entirely sure of the resistance, ohms, volts and whatnot, I knew I wanted this mod so I didn't kill my cartos and/or waste juice by killing them.

So, this is a great vv mod for anyone who wants a little control in their lives. ;)

Are you talking about Phil Busardo's review on YouTube about the Lavatube/VZVV Tube? Just a heads up, I think he mentions it in the review -

This is what interests me

(Ex - had a 1.5 dc and used it on my kgo and hated it... thought s/thing was wrong. Tried it on my VZ VV at around 4+ volts and LOVED it! I actually got to taste my cucumber melon for the first time!!!)

Because it's a 1.5 DC - it's a great little design - but when used in combination with the lavatube/VZVV - due to the 2.5 amp limit on the VZ-VV you are prob not getting much more than 3.4 to 3.8v on the device...which prob makes it right around the same voltage as the K-Go. Which is interesting because some of that could be placebo , or something else. That part is uncertain, but the certain part is the DC's dont' run too high on the VZVV, same as the ProVari (but for different reasons - ie. not for limitations), but the VZVV with the amp limit, won't get you above 3.4-3.8 V on a 1.5 DCC -

I stick with the 2.0 boges, and can get to 4.4V before it starts to modify my voltage if i go higher.

Dual Coil Low Resistance is not meant for variable voltage devices...period! They are meant for 3.7volt mods to simulate high voltage, period!

thats what I always thought, but I keep seeing reviewers on youtube saying they dont understand why people run dual coils on ego batteries that they are more suited for "hardcore" high volt vaping.
....'s confusing as im pretty sure they're more experienced vapers than I am, but that they're also wrong.

Dual coils drain your battery faster than single coil, low resistance will run HOT (ie. chances of burning out fast) on higher voltage. A single coil 3.0 Ohm cartomizer works best IMHO for variable voltage devices.

LR Dual Coils were developed for 3.7 volt devices.

Ive have a 5 pack of Smoketech dual coils @ 1.8 to 2 ohms I can run them up to 4.5 volts without the tube stepping it down. yeah it a thicker cloud but it's too much. I step it down to 3.5 to 3.7 volts. I have a Fat batt lying around dual coils work well with those. They more better than single coils on a fat batt. With a VV tube the extra money for dual is kinda lost IMHO. :vapor:

I just tossed some 2.5 ohm (5 ohm resistors in parallel) dual coil cartos my lavatube. Seems to work just fine at 6v, though I don't have a voltage meter. Nice vape, and the thing is, voltage is considered twice in the "Wattage" calculation, so, while you're getting 1.25 amps per coil on a 2.5, 2.0, 1.5 or whatever carto, the 2.5 turns that into 7 watts per coil (6*1.25), rather than, say, 6 watts per coil on a 2.0 ohm carto or 5.3 watts on a 1.7.

I don't know how the interaction between coils works, though. I'd be inclined to expect that the top coil also heats up the vapor from the bottom coil to some degree, leading to a warmer overall vape than you'd find from a solitary 5 ohm carto (along with twice the vapor).
