what are anybodies thought on them? I just started vaping now about 4 months and stopped by a local vendor shop and the owner was there and spent about an hour talking to me about my mod and carto tanks and gave me a 3 ohm single coil and i seem to like them more than the dual coil. they dont seem to fire right and get really hot which i dont like either.

personally i have alot better luck with single coil carto's double coils just make it so they have to have two good coils for it to work right,one bag coil out of the two and the carto is junk or taste like hell,i have no problem getting great hits with single coils so i stick to them these days.tho i will say i really did like double coils when i got some good ones but it was always like 50/50 for me after awhile i got sick of the gambling with them.

Dual coils won't work on some VV devices. The unit will read the resistance as one coil and trigger amp limiting.

I got the SmokTech ego dual coils ..well lets find out
I just know from experience with a LT clone. It read it as 1.5 instead of 3.0 which made for a very, very weak vape.
This smoketech is doin pretty well its also LR 1.5ohms, im runnin it at 3.7v now not a weak vape for me at all
The dual coil I had was supposed to be 3.0. Being dual coil, it had two coils with resistance of 1.5 each. My device was treating it like a 1.5 and keeping the voltage set far too low for what was really a 3.0 ohm carto. If yours is vaping well, then your device doesn't have a problem with it. That's good.
I just picked up my SMK V1's in the mail. Hopefully I don't have any problems with them. Time to try them out

I used dual coils because everybody said they were better & then somebody gave me some boge single coil cartos and it was a where have you been all my life moment the flavor was more crisp & tasty & just a all around better vape so I cut down all my dct tanks & put single coil cartos in them. Been happier every since.
My LT is not VW; it just simply cuts the voltage off at a certain point no matter how high you set it because of the amp limit. It's all good as long as I use SR single coils, which I prefer anyway.

They don't all do it. Mine is a rebranded clone, so I don't know about all LT's. Other VV devices have higher amp limits, but might still read the resistance wrong. I doubt a Provari has those issues with its high amp limit, but I will live with it for the price. : )
I started out with those and had decent luck at first. Of the two I'm using now one tastes like it's burning the juice (yes, it's full) and the other one is giving me almost zero vapor. Not sure what's up with all that. Also not sure I'll be buying any more of them.
I've had good luck so far with the Boge dual-coils, but after reading this thread I'm definitely going to give their single-coils a try.
When I started using cartos I used dual coil until I started getting bad tastes. I been single coil ever since.
I came a across a few mixed experiences with them but in the end I jus had to try it...and maybe Pbusardo played a part in my final decision lol. So far so good though.
My whole interest wit cartos only came about cus I pulled out my halo G6 and realized I have yet to try a carto on my ego.
Also yea after reading these post the Boge SC is next on my list lol
