I got in some xl dual coil cartos and expected good things. Trouble is, they aren't up to much.

I'm running what should be about 3ohm total resistance dual coil on a true 3.7v box mod on a fresh carto but the vapour is what I can only describe as wet. It's what I experience from my cartos when they're performing sub par. Heavy, wet vapour and not a lot of it. Doesn't make much sense to me because I run 3ohm cartos on it without a hitch. It's not overfilled, it's not underfilled; as filled as my normal cartos are when I use them.

So, is 3.7v not enough? Something I'm missing?

I've tried all vg all pg and pg/vg mix and the same result.

I also prefer them around 5.0v. But, it depends on the battery I'm using if they do well at 3.7. The DCs really do a lot better with a high drain batt than most run-of-the-mill li-ons. I do have a couple of li-ons in my collection that are exceptions, but generally speaking, most just can't produce enough amps to keep up with the DCs. In most cases, it is as much as 3 or 4/10ths of a volt output difference between li-ons and IMRs with a 1.5 ohm DC.

AW or MNKE IMR batts are the way to go. Some of the BDLs are OK... but for the most part, the BDLs are out-performed by AW and MNKE.

oh forgot to mention..everything is all subjective..things that maybe great for one may not so be great for other..just stick to what works for u..

Agreed and yeah, when you use the DC on 5v it's about the same vapor production as the Boge. Maybe a little more but it's hardly noticeable.

IMO a good old Boge lr 2.0 carto is hard to beat in all categories except for TH and flavor.

I have 1.6 ohm total resistance (3.2 ohm per coil) DC and prefer to vape 12mg at 3.7v.

For me the TH is too powerful at 5v w/ 12mg.

DC advantage is coils share work load so they take more abuse before burning wick.

You measured 3.7 volts under load?

Your total resistance is 1.5 or 3?

I don't have a multimeter so I can't directly measure v under load. I 'm using a 14500 3.7v battery mod.

DC itself: 510 Dual Coil XL LR Cartomisers (3 pack) - Empty

Wrong resistance, not a high enough drain battery?

If your batt is a protected Li-Ion 14500 it could be pushing the limit w/ 1.5 ohm DC.
14500 is a pretty small batt and may be rated between 600 to 900 mah.
Some people use unprotected "safe" chemistry high drain batts for more amps.
If your PV is not rated for at least 2.5 amps then 1.5 ohm is out of spec.
I would try a carto closer to 2.5ohms which brings the current down to 1.5 amps.
Not easy to find the actual discharge rate of batt or actual current rating of PV.

Strangely enough, I had a similar issue on my E-power just yesterday, using dual-coil clearos.

Vapor was still there, just less of it - less TH and flavor too. At first I thought to change the battery but that made no difference. Only when I checked the resistance (and it came in at 3 ohms) did I realize I had a lost a coil. The fact that these cartos are 2 coils in paralell means they keep working, but at lower performance.

I pulled a new one from the box - unwrapped - and checked it...same issue! Pah!

When they work (which, in fairness, is 99% of the time), they are the DB's :vapor:

Good point.
If you have more than one in rotation it is easier to detect a blown coil.
I put a lot of miles on mine before lost a coil.
See 14:20 for coil blowout instructions.

I only use the Regular(not XL) 1.5+-0.2ohms Dual Coil's on my Reo Grand at 3.7v and it works flawlessly. I fill the cartomizer up before I put it on my Reo Grand and it lasts about a week before the flavor changes at all. I could use them for 2 weeks and be happy but I have bought enough where I change the cartomizer every Sunday just to keep that beautiful vapor/flavor that I love.

I bought some from health cabin when they were first rolling out. Not impressed at all. I got the same "wet" vape you were describing.

I ordered some juice or something from gotvapes and they threw in a dc clear carto for free. I decided to try it out the other day and it was good. Maybe there was some sort of defect with my original ones.
