dual coil mod?

I have a dual coil carto from a tubetank, im assuming since its 3 ohm that if i eliminate a coil i will be left with a 1.5 ohm carto. im attempting to use this as an atty for a bottom feed mod but cannot find any info on it. Does this sound like a bad idea? i figure ill have to shorten the neg. wire to prop it in a horizontal position near the feed hole.

Sorry, no. You will have a 6ohm coil. Dual coils half the resistance of a single coil.

if you want a cheap atomizer option with a horizontal coil ?? get some kangers..
it is easy to remove the filler material and you have a ready to go atomizer

That is only if they run them in parallel (on the right below), if it is run in series (on the left below) then the OP is correct.

But I would have to say most are probably parallel i.e.

So tear it apart and have a look.

The SmokeTech dual coil cartomizers have parallel coils. Thus if it is rated at 1.5 ohms, it would have 2 coils at 3 ohms. I have a bunch of used ones and I use the coils on my rebuildable CE2s.

after i snipped the 2nd coil out i ended up measuring the resistance of the coil wire to around 2 ohms. i resoldered it and rewicked it but with out a ceramic cup i cant test it out. i gave up and will be ordering am rba.
