I'm contemplating trying to set up a dual coil for my reomizer. Something like two 3-ohm coils.

Since I prefer to learn from other people's mistakes, I'm curious if anyone here has tried it. So far I can think of 3 different setups:

2 horizontal wicks on the side of the posts, one above the other, next to the airhole
2 horizontal wicks on opposite side of posts (since one will be farther from the airhole, will that give me too much of a throat hit?)
1 wick with two coils on it. Pretty much wind a single coil with two wires, and space them out so they don't short.

Which would you suggest?

Here's the first two attempts.

Parallel coils, on opposite sides of the posts. Coils are 3.2 ohm each, 1.6 together

1. 3mm silica wick. Terrible results. Little vapor, muted flavor, huge throat hit. Turns out my wick was too thin for the coils, and it was overheating the liquid.

2. 2-strand cotton yarn. Better. Comparable to the original coil. I expected a lot more vapor out of two coils. I definitely feel more buzzed than with original coil, but that may be due to lower resistance (1.6 vs Rob's 2.0). Maybe the wick needs time to swell up. I'll give it til tomorrow and try a different setup.

Hmm, I think I give up.

Two coils on the same side, one above the other -- doesn't fit very well, or my hands are too fat to do it

Two coils on the same wick -- wires end up being too close, shorted out pretty fast and popped the coil. No Reos were harmed in the experiment

Similar concept -- braided wire with more loops. Works fine, but it's the same result as lower gauge wire, just with more work and less reliability. The braided wire will gunk up faster than just smooth thicker wire.

I've made dual coils on the Chalice and Reomizer, one coil on each side of the posts. It works well, but I think for best results each coil should have its own air supply. With the stock single air hole there is always one coil that isn't getting enough air passing over it. I know some ERA's come with two air holes for this very purpose, but alas they are only sold locally in the Philippines. One day, when time permits I might try drilling an opposing air hole in the Reomizer and try again, but quite honestly I can't imagine these things getting better than they already are.
