Hey guys, I just built this dual parallel coil build (0.5 ohms each) coming out to around 0.2 ohms. I was just wondering if it would draw the same amount of power as a quad setup considering each coil is made up of 2 coils? (correct me if I'm wrong >.<) Or is it just the same effect as twisting kanthal?

Hopefully this represents what I'm trying to say a little better lol. I'm not sure if you'll be able to see it in the picture but there are two leads coming from each coil instead of one.

I can barely see it... the image doesn't enlarge much. It still "looks" like two coils... but what we have are four separate coils, one coil "nested" inside the other, giving the initial appearance of two coils, and they are all in parallel... yes?

Then you have 4 coils in parallel, so resistance would be 1/4th that of a single coil. Surprised that works? :p

The reason it works is the aluminum oxide layer which forms on the Kanthal wire that insulates each coil from the other... much like each wrap of a coil is insulated from the next wrap (of a compressed coil) and they don't short out, one to another.
"Alumina" (Al2O3) is the electrically resistive, thermally conductive layer that rapidly develops on the surface of the wire... "insulating" the electrically conductive "inner" iron/aluminum/chromium core.

If, on the other hand, you intended to make two coils from 1 length of wire - coils "in series" - consider that the gross resistance value of wire is based on it's length and diameter, and has nothing to do with the number of coils made from it.

I have a spool of 30 gauge sitting in my kit that I haven't touched in forever - now I have a use for it. Parallel dual coil on my Tobh, 5 wraps on 2mm screwdriver (total of 10 widths of 30 gauge each coil). Just over 0.4 ohms. I could probably do 4 wraps, for about 0.3 ohm, but this thing hits like crazy already, and burns through the juice pretty quick.

The vape - slightly warm (on a Tobh, which is usually really cool) with plenty of vapor and strong throat hit. Me likey.
