I have been happily filling blank cartos for a couple of weeks now. Last week I filled 2 cartos, hooked em up to my battery and got vapor and that nasty burnt taste but no juice taste at all. No satisfying "crackle" of the juice heating, just the nasty tasting vapor. That tells me the connection is being made but regardless I tried SnowDragon's post lift; no go, same results.

Any ideas? I opened a ticket a V4L and they said try the carto lift, and that dud cartos were incredibly rare. LOL I told them incredibly rare stuff happens to me all the time.:p

You've probably already tried this, as it relates to the contact post. But try unscrewing the carto as you try to vape it. I've run into a couple of carto's that are just weird, and didn't like to be screwed down all the way. Sometimes they would come to life with a couple of loosening turns. BUT, the hit was way to airy.

Good Morning kittypie,

Just to recap, you filled 2 new fresh blank Cartos and all you get is a burnt taste but no vapor is that correct? I'd like to ask you a few questions if that is o.k.? How are you filling those Cartos? Now, when you say they taste burnt does that mean they are heating up somewhat on the battery or if you removed the Cartos from the battery and sucked on them they would taste burnt?

Now you have been vaping for about a month or so, does your battery or batteries have a black resin in between the threads of your battery where the Carto screws on?

The Snap, Crackle, and Pop isn't always present with Cartos especially blank refills so that isn't a great indicator.

Hi SD
"Just to recap, you filled 2 new fresh blank Cartos and all you get is a burnt taste but no vapor is that correct?"

SD - That is mostly correct --however I DO get vapor. I am filling the blank, fresh cartos with drip and spin method. No resin on cartos or batteries, I keep them scrupulously clean. They do appear to be heating, since vapor is being produced. They are screwed on correctly. I have not tried sucking on the cartos alone to see if I get the burnt taste...
THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

O.K. .......let's pick this post back up when you get home later today and have the Cartos in hand so-to-speak...cool? Just curious if you happen to have a Chainsaw, Arc Welder, and a 300 ton Horizontal Ram Press at home? Well, nevermind we'll deal with all that stuff later!

If you have any large paperclips at work, nab a 1/2 dozen of them.

:p

Oops...o.k., well then I will give you something to try when you get home. Take a large paper clip or sewing needle and as was recommended you are going to lift the Carto post.

Hold the paper clip or sewing needle at sideways at 90 degrees, place about an 1/8th of an inch of it into the battery hole. While holding the needle or paper clip steady, hold the carto in your hand put downward force on the mouth piece end. Carto posts are pliable they are just a little harder to raise than battery posts.

This should lift one side of the post, the turn it 180 degrees and repeat on the other side. If the post has been raised correctly, when you screw it on the battery there should be a gap between the bottom of the Carto and the base of the battery connector. That gap should be about 1-1.5mm or the width equal to thickness of a match book cover.

Give that a whirl.....if she a noa worka...bring the cartos to work with you tomorrow.

Just my own experience here: I've gotten burnt taste from using thick juices which have difficulty getting to the bottom of the carto. Spinning and waiting have been the key here. If you've ever used a dual coil clearomizer, you can see what a long journey it can be for the juice to get in there on a virgin carto.

When this happened to me, I was not able to get that burnt taste out. Maybe there is a cleaning method, but I just chalked it up to a lesson in patience.
