Not the dumbest question I have seen.

A CE2 Cartomizer is a Fillerless type cartomizer that is Made by MiT. They have a tank that hold your e-liquid and a built in Atomizer at the top of the Cartomizer nearest to the Mouth Piece. They are made with either a Metal or Plastic outer tube.

They are regarded by to give the Best hit of all the Cartomizers but have not been without their problems. The largest is that the Plastic tubes have been known to crack or even come lose and fall off.

If you are considering trying them, I would suggest you do a ECF Google search and do some reading on them first.

What is CE2, exactly? After you finish laughing, please help me out, thanks ;-)

I like them. They are my carto of choice, but I think the Genuine Joye cartos may replace them.
There is a ceramic cup, and a wick on either side. The heating coil is on the top, and can be easily dripped on.
You fill it with a syringe. This is kind of a put off, since it makes filling them on the go difficult. But they hold a fair amount of juice and can last for a while unless you're a serial vapist like me. What I do is fill them in the morning and then drip through the day. This helps keep them full, and dripping right on the coil is fantasic! I heard about them a year ago (?) and being one who has to try everything bought a 5 pack. Then another...and another. They are good, barring the few problems zolDman mentioned. I never had one crack until I left it in a car; now there's a stain on my seat. They are saying the new ones don't have the cracking issue, but I haven't tried them yet.

The CE2's work very good and last longer between refills than any regular cartomizers, has no filler material to burn so is a cleaner vape. You can pull the clear tube off and run under hot water and squeeze the string like fiber with a paper towel to get most of the moisture out of it, and then do a dry burn while its apart to clean the gunk off the coil. Just pulse the battery button and watch the coil get red and do this until the coil gets red quickly when you hit the button. What nice is after you do this its like NEW again. Put the clear tube back on, then put the cap over the cup and align the notches in the cap to go over the rope on both sides, and refill with a syringe and your back in business. I really do like the XL Clearomizers and they don't cost anymore than the standard cartomizers. I have tried tanks and every other cartomizer out their and have not found a better one to use. Like one of the other posters said the only problem is they do crack after a while, but so what throw it away and use a new one just like you would with the regular cartomizers. Don't be shy asking questions here on the ECF, lots of very nice folks will answer your questions. Always remember the only dumb question, is the one you don't ask, how else will you learn from other people and their experiences. Hope this is helpful.

Doesn't the name mean Cartomizer Edition 2? Primary diff to the originals being no filling?

This is correct.

RoyalSmokers/MiT was the first company to come out with a Cartomizer design that did not use a Filler to hold the e-Liquid.

It was ironic because they marketed them as "No Filler to Burn". But with their design, the atomizer coil was moved so even if filler material was used, it couldn't burn be that it wasn't in contact with the atomizer.

One other question - How often should one clean? I'm sure it depends on your vaping style, but are there any visual clues? I just ordered a GotVapes Giantomizer.

Depends a lot on the type of e-Liquid you use.

If you use a thick, VG based, sweet brown e-Liquid you might need to clean/dry burn every 4 or 5 refills. Where as if you use a thin, PG base, clear e-Liquid you might got 10 or 12. It's hard to say.

I clean and dry burn when I get my first hint of burnt taste. Or if I can no longer see the atomizer coils and it is just one big ball of gooey black gunk on the coil/wick.

It helps to gently brush the coil/wick with a Dentek Brush lightly dipped in Vodka at every refill.

Curious, why do you think the Joye cartos could replace the CE2's, Doesn't the Joye cartos have filler material like most other cartomizers?
