I asked about the voltage, because if it throws an E1 due to detecting a short, it should reset when the device is removed. But an E1 also appears if the voltage is too high for the device on it. Occasionally if you are in the Pu menu function, but don't pause for it to set, if you go to vape the power can continue to go up. I've had it happen and I know of others too. I'm wondering if it might have gone up too high for anything you've tried on it.

ETA: Another one I thought of was over tightening when screwing devices on.

Thank you very much for all your helpful replies.
The weird thing is, I can adjust pu & pd, so there is power but no hissing noise at all.
The other weirdness, is no error message. I did clean the connector, no help.
I was vaping @ 3.4.
Ohms, I've never quite understood, but it's reading op, power is on.

When it says "op", it's short for "open", meaning no continuity, or broken coil, or no device attached.

Have you tried other toppers? I can't get an "E1" with nothing attached. So it appears it detects a topper. And usually a shorted coil would show "Lo" when you read Ao, and will definitely cause an E1 at any voltage selected.

You probably have this, but it's a link to a pdf of the manual: http://www.provape.com/v/images/ProVariManual.pdf

As Preloader posted,

Ao mode: "If you enter this mode with no atomizer installed the display will read Op meaning
“Open”...any atomizer/cartomizer [screwed on] that reads "open" has a reading higher than 9.9ohms and should not be used."

9.9 is the error code for most of the Chinese mods with the same issue.

Even if the warranty is over?

Many of us didn't buy the extended warranty due to the reasonable cost of repairs. This is from the ProVape "Knowledge Base" on their website:

Replace Window and screws- $10.00
Replace Circuit Board - $65.00
Upgrade to V2 - $20.00
Replace plastic pushbutton - $5.00
Repairs to the circuit board - $25.00
Cleaning - $20.00
Replace top cap - $15.00
Broken Cartomizer Service - $10.00

ETA: I can't recall if there is a labor charge, but they will send you an estimate. You pay shipping charges.

So pleased to announce that my Provari & I are again a happy couple. I gave it a good cleaning with everclear.
I changed to carts, still a no go.
Went back to egos for a while, cleaned the Provari several more times, always giving it at least 3 days to dry out.
Alas, one day it just came back to life...never give up on your dreams!
Thanx so much for all your help!
