I was at the WI State Fair Tuesday and was very excited to see an e-cig seller in the Expo Pavillion. I'm not quite sure who it was...OMG? I think that's what I noticed on the banner.
It was pretty crowded around that booth, but I wondered over anyway. I never did get a pitch, but I rather he pitched to people who had never heard about it anyway. I do know he didn't make the "1 cart = 1 pack" claim (YAH!). I encouraged 3 people to buy when they were himming & hawing on what to do and then felt I better get out of there before someone started thinking I was a shill LOL Price wise, I think it was about the same as SE at the mall.

I ran into 2 of the 3 people I talked to later at other booths in the pavillion. In both cases, they said "tell my friend what you told me about this thing...." LOL Sounds like their buddies were giving them a bad time about promises made at the fair. Since we were no where near OMG, I pulled out my 510, PCC & my stick, explained it's not a fair gimmic, it really has worked & wrote down the name of the forum to read up and educate themselves even more on the subject.

Having the stick was really neat. I had one of those 'smock' style tank tops on (what are they called now? they were smocks when I was a kid. At least I finally stopped calling flipflops "thongs" LOL), so when clipped to my waistband, it didn't even show and it was great having easy access to it.

And yes; we did try the chocolate covered bacon on a stick! What do you know; it tasted like chocolate and bacon LOL Through most of it, I thought it was more like a salt, chewy chocolate, but when we got down towards the thicker part of the meat, the two separate tastes were very distinct. We got lucky as it was "Grazin' Daze" at the fair that day, and they were priced at a dollar (I think every day price was 2 @ $3).
Went better together than beer and chocolate, but the taste just didn't blend like chocolate & coconut or chocolate & peanut butter.

We spend a lot of time in the barns when we are there (trip down memory lane for hubby - he use to show every year), and it was sooo great not wondering when we were going to step out of there and get away from the straw! LOL

Sitting on the bench while the kids were on rides, I used my 510 cause it looked more like a cigarette (would have probably been better had I had a white one; I gotta get on that) and since I was bored, welcomed questions about it.
I love the fair. What other state allows you to bring in a wagon haulin' a cooler with your own beer! =) Never fear; we also had soda and water in there too. Hubby and the kids had to have something to drink! LOL

Did anyone else make it to the fair this year?

Ewwww - chocolate covered bacon... I just can't wrap my mind around that one, no matter HOW much I love chocolate...

Glad you had a great time at the fair - the last time I made it to the fair, I think I still only had 1 kid (Josh's 9 now - hehehe) and it sounds like you had a great time.

Mlr - you should really go into selling our little gizmos - hehehe - you seem to end up doing just that anytime you get around a crowd of people....might as well get paid for it, eh? hahaha
It's good that you are so into the education of the masses - every person who knows about and uses PV's is one less on tobacco full time, and one more who will continue to spread the word to their circle of friends.... power in numbers and all that!

Was it SE selling the PV's - or just some random reseller?

I really didn't get the companies name; they did have "OMG" on the back wall of the booth though. I don't know if they are just a branch off of SE, or how that all works.

SE has expanded out to Brookfield Square, I heard on the radio last week! That's so wonderful that business has been that good!

If there was a supplier out there who was selling a model I used, I probably would be asking them for a job LOL

Hmmm....maybe suppliers could start looking at doing this like Party Lite, Lia Sophia and Pampered Chef -- have house parties!! LOL The host/ess invites all their smoking friends & loved ones of smokers over; they have little 5ml bottles of juice as the door prize; of course, the host gets product credit......someone should really look into this! LOL I'd love to go to a vaping party instead of another purse party!

I've heard from several people about the e-cig booth at the fair. As for me, I can't take that much of a crowd in my advanced years lol. My wife and I always enjoy the Kenosha and Walworth County Fairs though. This coming week Wed-Sunday is Kenosha and Walworth is Labor Day weekend

I know what you mean; I have avoided plenty of things because I just don't like crowds. Since it was suppose to be a warm day & we get there when they open, hubby suggested we hit the pavillion before it got packed with people trying to beat the afternoon heat. Come to find out, it was a nice day & not a hot day so it really didn't matter. But, I did notice it started to still get a lot busier around 2pm - the time we normally get to that end.

The only other fair I've been to in the state has been the Rock County one. I really liked it. Still bigger than my hometown fair, but a more relaxed feeling than the state fair.

Hi All,

New member here! Saw this thread and had to comment, because the fair is where my husband & I got our first PVs last Saturday!

I don't know who OMG is - very hard to find any info online, although they had a business card for reordering carts, the website doesn't offer any replacement batteries or atties. There were no instructions included and no model number printed anywhere.

The guy at the booth seemed nice, but didn't offer too much info and he DID tell us that 1 cart = 1 pack or so. The workers certainly didn't try to DISPEL that myth and they did make it seem like you could buy one kit and then just keep buying refills forever. We bought 2 kits (2 batteries, 1 atomizer, 1 five pack of carts) plus 4 extra cart packages. It was about $220. My husband's charger doesn't work.

I checked out "e-cigs" online and found this forum. Consequently, I feel we got scammed a bit, compared to the higher quality and better prices available, but at least it introduced us to PVs and got us in the right direction! I'm expecting our 510 starters to get here today! (2 manual kits with TWO atties plus 2 juices for $168). I think I'll need to order more juice right away - not sure why I didn't order more - I think I need to find it a bit less expensive. Is $9 - $10 average for 15ml of juice?

Anyhow, after all of this, the threat of it being BANNED is freaking me out! So, I've started a couple threads in the "Campaigns" area of the boards, with a form email letter for everyone to send to their legislators. Hope you all will help in fighting this ban and in other fights across the country. If we show our numbers and apply reason, maybe we can stop local politicians from equating PVs with tobacco cigs.

Hope to get to know you all better! I'm in the process of moving from Milwaukee to Antigo, so I may be scarce over the next week or so, but I'll be around a lot after that!

Have a great day!

Hi Kristin, Great to have you in the group!! The letters you posted are great!! We're all sort of freaking out about the prospects, too,,, which is one of the compelling reasons to band together. OMG is probably mlr grl saying oh my God,,, but i'll let her confirm that,,, lol.

As for bargain hunting,,, I always keep an eye out in the suppliers thread and the classifieds here on the forum. You'll find some great deals there. Also, the supporting suppliers have forums. The ones to check first are the ones with the highest post counts... (the best ones seem to get the most traffic)

The best prices , generally, are buying direct from China,,, but they usually have a higher shipping cost, and it might take a week or so to arrive. If you want a lot of stuff, it's worth it.

Some of the US Suppliers I've had good luck with are

Rocky Mtn Vapor http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-rockymountainvapor-com-updates-specials.html

Good everyday low prices,,, free shipping on orders over $14. $15 per 30ml bottle for juice isn't bad. They ship fast, too!!

Good Prophets Good Prophets - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

Watch for nightly specials posted in his forum. Some of the best deals around, and always include free shipping. Right now he's been hit by the paypal thing, but keep on eye out there,,, he's going to start taking credit cards soon.

Nhaler Nhaler - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

One of the best places to buy juice. Use saveInNJ for 10% off. Drew always tosses in little extras. Tasty custom flavors. Free shipping on orders over $100.

Vapor4life Vapor4Life - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

Another great place with deals. If your order is over $50, use the code smilin20 for a 20% discount.

These are a few of my favorite US suppliers and I can recommend all of them.

Edited to add this one,,, the Widow is having a big 510 parts sale this weekend.

You are correct that's normally what I'm saying, Harmony, (you know me too well LOL) but in this case, it said "OMG" in big gold letter on the booth curtains. I too tried to look them up online after I got home. I remember seeing something about them when I was doing all my newbie research, but when I looked after the fair couldn't really find anything about them.
Maybe they merged with someone?? Hmmmmm....

Kristin; knowing what many of us do about e-cigs & online ordering, we do have a hard time seeing the booths and resisting the urge to run over and jump up on the table to yell "Yes! They work! but don't buy them here! Start out with a 510 from XYZ!!".
BUT, we do respect them in the fact that they have the capital to put up these booths and get the word out about e-cigs, so many of us have a love/not-quite love relationship with them. And to retaliate, we use our e-cigs in public and promote our favorite sellers LOL
I know that in your case (& that of many who discover ECF after they buy from a booth) the initial start up cost for you guys is a little higher than it was for some of us, but the money savings over all will kick in soon enough (yah; trying to make a rainbow out of it LOL).

I'm so glad you found us here!
oh! did you try the chocolate covered bacon at the fair?? LOL

MlrGrl, you are not hallucinating, that was what I saw as well. It was OMG. The signage looked eerily like SE if you ask me, I suspected it was somehow related. It was pretty crowded when I walked by and didn't stop. My husband likely wouldn't have let me, knowing he wouldn't be able to drag me away as I showed everyone mine. :)

Welcome Kristin, where are you at here in Wisconsin?

Velvet! Good to see you! I was just telling a friend of mine in MT about you & Vicks the other day and the ROCK AWESOME job you girls did last month -- omg; can you believe it's been almost TWO months ago now!

You know, when I was trying to look at the boxes, I too thought it looked a lot like SE! As for hubby - you could have sent him down the aisle a little more to look at the siding guy. That's where my hubby headed when we passed it the first time & I said "hold on, babe, I need to check this out..." & he knew there was no stopping me LOL but, it sounds like it was more crowded when you passed by than it did my first trip by.

Yeah, I've been kinda quiet in here lately, just reading. :) Been really busy lately, new grandbaby on the way, daughters wedding in a couple of weeks, youngin' starting school next week... geez. I can't wait for November. LOL

I really do think they were somehow affiliated with SE, just seemed to familiar with the Black and Gold box and such. Maybe they are trying to get out from under the SE label a bit because of the negative press, who knows. Was good to hear how much Kristin paid, I was curious what they were charging. That was the main reason I didn't stop, I knew I would start drawing people away.

OMG.... I can't believe it has been two months, I have no idea it had been that long. This Summer has just flown by.

I will have to come in here more often. I hate to admit, I just forget we have our own little area in here. We should all get together again and have Vicks bring her new prodigy, I would love to see it. :)

k, off to bed with me. Still have to take a shower yet and somehow drag myself out of bed in 5.5 hours. Yuck.

And you changed your avatar back! See, I was still so use to it, I didn't even realize the first time that you switched back! LOL

Boy; you are a busy girl! No no! Not ready for NOV! Heck; I'm still waiting for summer to get here! LOL

I too have mostly been lurking. I get emails on things from here, so most of the time, I read those off the phone while out & about to keep up.
I upgraded my phone last week & it will bring me directly to the page to respond/post if I want, but it's a learning curve, so I'll get there at some point. As long as I'm keeping up, I'm feeling good LOL
