Depends entirely on the output of the phone charger. Check the ratings plate on it - it has to provide a minimum of 500 mA output current. (Or 0.5 amp - same thing.) If it can provide more current it won't hurt anything - the charger only draws what it needs, but less than 500 mA and the charger won't work properly and/or the AC to USB adapter could overheat.
It is solid and, although I would always prefer more power, but, it seemed to be an upper-end model. There are others to consider at the same spot. I also travel with it.
